Blizzard Bags

I think we missed about 12 days of school due to the winter weather this year.  12 days of no learning = days added onto the end of the school year.  Yucky huh?

Enter the blizzard bag.  It's a folder for Layla and a gallon size baggie for Hayden.  It is filled with worksheets and activities for the kids to complete and it will equal a day of classwork.

At first it seemed like a pain in the butt, but the kids loved it!  They sat down this morning and did almost the entire workload.  They had fun and helped one another.  I sat between them with a cup of coffee and offered my assistance when needed.  It was a fun lazy Saturday morning activity until we got the the P.E. part.

Yes, there was even a physical education worksheet.  It was so cute to watch them stretch their muscles as they do in P.E. class.  There were activities like 'run in place for 3 minutes' and 'how may push-ups can you do in one minute.  It was a fun pick me up activity for after they did their classwork.

Each kiddo has a few more worksheets to complete and hopefully we'll finish tomorrow so they can turn them in on Monday.  The work isn't due for 10 days, but I think we'll be better off getting it done while the weather is still a bit chilly.  When warmer temperatures show up we'll be outside every single day!  We are thrilled to have spring SUN!

spring soccer!

The spring soccer season has begun for Hayden!

He is thrilled to get started.

Layla chose gymnastics, so she is a soccer spectator this year!

She was making braclets while watching Hayden kick the ball around.

I'm excited for soccer, but it needs to warm up a bit.  I was freezing at the fields tonight!

it's up! it's up!

I can't count the times I complained about moving the trampoline from Texas to Ohio.  And then we moved it from one house to another once in our new state.

Well,  today Gary assembled it and we've been jumping like crazy!  I am thankful we moved it!

It's so fun and knowing the springlike weather is on it's way makes it even more fun!
Even us adults love it.  You can't help but giggle when jumping!

St. Patricks Day Weekend

We had a wonderful green weekend with friends!

I'm so happy to have my husband back!  He was out of town for 8 days and we missed him so much.  He came back just in time for an awesome weekend of fun.

We had several bonfires and enjoyed the warmer Ohio temperatures!

We had a few green beers and green s'mores for the kiddos!

Happy St. Partick's Day!!

my sleeping buddy

Gary is out of town this week, and so I've had a sweet hairy sleeping buddy to keep me company!

She blends in with the brown blanket, and yes, she uses the pillows.

goose-egg

Yesterday afternoon I got a phone call from the school about Hayden.  He fell outside on the playground and hit his head.

{I remember getting that call a couple of years ago about Layla getting hurt at school.}

It's a scary call to get, but I know the teachers and staff take great care of our kiddos.

Hayden was doing tricks on the monkey bars and he fell and slammed his head on a pole and then fell to the ground.  I'm so thankful he is just fine.  After a very calm afternoon and evening, and a good night of sleep the swelling was gone by this morning!

He is a rough and tough little guy who needs a haircut.  ;)

Upward basket ball season end party!

Hayden loved playing basket-ball!!  He had an awesome first season.
To celebrate a great season they had an 'end of the season' party!

There were tons of fun activites going on including huge human sized hamster balls.
Hayden got picked to ride inside one!  I was thrilled for him.  He was grinning from ear to ear!

His team had to roll him half the length of the basketball court and back.  They did and they did it the fastest and so they won the race!  It was a fun night.  I love the Upward program.  I love how every single event has a lesson and the kids are learning about team work and The Lord.

I hope Hayden decides to play again next year!

Last basketball game of the season

Today was Hayden's last game! He played great defense. I'm so unbelievable proud of the improvements he has made in basketball.

Hayden really never even picked up a basketball when he decided he wanted to play. He could barely dribble.

He didn't care. He was ready to learn and boy did he. And so did I! Upwards is a great program for kids and I'm glad he played!

I'm sure all spring and summer long he will be practicing on his new basket ball hoop Santa brought. I think he will be shooting and perfecting his game so he can play again next year!

He had an amazing season and met some great friends along the way! I think his teammates are all pretty cool guys.

For the love of backhand springs

I'm happy to say .... Layla seems to have found a love. A goal. An activity that she pours her heart into. It wasn't soccer. It wasn't tap dancing. It isn't reading books, although she does it because she has too.

It is tumbling! And she is so good at it. She is so flexible. She is so happy on the mat! She has a goal.....

She wants to be walking backwards talking to a friend and just bust out a back handspring! I can't wait for the day she does that!

It all started all those years ago when she put on that first little gymnastics suit. She's got this and I'm one proud momma!!

Dreaming of spring

I think our pups are getting just as tired of winter as we are. I'll catch them laying on the couch gazing out the window!

We're getting more snow today and over night tonight! I hope it melts away soon and the trees start budding!

Spring is my favorite!

a fun night out!

Friday night we celebrated my Swedish friend Annika.  She is moving back to Texas this month and we are sad about it.  I've enjoyed getting to know all these lovely ladies since moving to Ohio. I am truly blessed with great friends.  It makes me sad to know she is leaving and I won't get to meet her precious baby until I visit Texas again.  She is due in May with her second babe!

I am thankful for social media.  I enjoy keeping up with all my Texas friends and family and now I can follow along with her on her new adventure back in Texas!
