'Snowed In' in Texas

Guys & Gals, this is one for the record books.
I am 33 years old and I have never seen snow like this in Texas.
I have lived here my WHOLE life.
It is amazing and beautiful :)
Sorry, I'm sure you guys are gonna get tired of all the snow pics,
but I'm loving it and love blogging about all the memories we are making!

Snow fall last night was about 9 inches...the puppies legs were covered.

Hayden was mad!
His car was stuck, like many other cars in the area...teehee!

My angel!

Unbelievable!!!

I'm clearing a path for the kids.
Hayden had a really hard time walking around.
He would fall and then we'd pick him up.
Then two steps later he'd fall again.

Snow up to her knees!!!

Mr. snowman has random backyard toys for arms,
eyes are balls, and a smile made from my rosemary plant.
Oh, and Gary's cap. I'm surprised he took it off...he loves that camo ball cap

It was such a fun way to spend the day!!

I've fallen and I can't get up!

Almost nine inches and still falling as of 5pm Thursday night.
AND we got more snow during the night! Our total for the day was around 12 1/2 inches!

Simply Amazing :)

One ingredient, many uses

We love oatmeal.

And who doesn't love looking at that cute little Quaker man every morning.

Gary has seen amazing weight loss results eating oatmeal everyday for breakfast.

Hayden and Layla love a bowl with applesauce mixed in.

And I eat mine with Splenda and cinnamon, or berries, or bananas, or raisins.

Look what I found under the lid of the oatmeal container.

and they do vanish...fast!

Here is a close up picture to make your mouth water.

Look at those ginormous raisins, thank you very much Central Market.

I also have an amazing meatloaf recipe that contains oatmeal.

I will be sharing it very soon, right here on this blog. It is not just any meatloaf recipe.

It makes me hungry just thinking about it.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Layla and I made Valentine cards for her teachers at preschool.

Here she is ready to go!

Scissors~check! Glue~check! Cookie cutters~check! Snack~check!

She even decorated the bag she is using to take the cards to school.

She saw me reading this post by

and wanted to do it too.
♥ ♥ ♥
Here are the cards we made:

BOTH of her teachers are named Mrs. Kirsten,
but their names are pronounced different.

I feel like such a slacker mommy photographer.

The pictures of these cards are terrible.
You can't even tell how cute the pink card stock is under the candy canes.

Layla picked out the cards she wanted to give her classmates all. by. herself.

Layla = Little miss independent!!

She is really into pencils right now and asked if she could give them each a pencil.

And of course shaped suckers.

They are the best...I have already eaten 2 of them.

48

...that is the warmest it is supposed to get this week here in my area of Texas.
All you people living in the north, I can hear you laughing at me.
I'm sure you would LOVE this weather.
But not me. I am so. sick. of. cold.
Every year by the middle of February I get spring fever.
By looking at the 7 day forecast we may get more snow.
Wow...3 times in one winter. In Texas that is unheard of.

And the 50 you see on Sunday....didn't happen.
It was so stinkin' cold yesterday. Bahhhh!

We will be bundling up this week when we get out and about.
Also,
I see in our future, more PJ days hanging out by the fireplace.
Happy {cold,rainy,grey} Monday!
What is the weather like in your area?
Are you getting tons of snow/rain?

gettin' ready for the big game

We live about 8 miles from the nearest grocery store. We don't live in the country by any means, but in a newly developed subdivision.
Hopefully, soon, we will have tons of stores around us. But for now we make the trip.

Anyway, about a mile from our house is a fresh fruit and veggie stand. I love it! It is so easy when you need a few things and don't want to hit the road to the grocery store.

Gary got all these things today for our SuperBowl festivities.
For $8.00!
I am making homemade pico de gallo, and so he grabbed a ton of tomatoes! Yippee :))

*****

I was very impressed with the cilantro.
Usually, I get a teny tiny bunch at the store, and it is half brown.

This bunch was $1.00 and it is so pretty!

He snuck in an avocado. YUM!

My children 'hoover' avocados.

Our definition of hoover = eat so fast like a vacuum cleaner.

And peppers for quesadillas...pretty :)

Look at the size of this jalapeno...I laid it next to a regular dinner fork so you could get an idea of how large it is. That is gonna make some yummy pico, and maybe homemade salsa too.

I gotta get busy cooking and getting ready for the game!

GO SAINTS!!!
WOOOHOO!!
