virtual cheer tryouts

 3 years of tryouts.

This lady made the Varsity cheer squad for 2020-2021!
The tryouts were different this year due to Covid-19.

Layla submitted her tryout video after working very hard all week.  It was stressful at times, but she did amazing and all her hard work paid off.

I'm thrilled for these two!!!!

I'm one proud mom!  I'm thankful for this young lady and the amazing lady she is becoming.

Number 12 made cheer!!

Layla made the JV cheer team for her 9th grade year!! We're so proud and excited for her.

Eight of the nine cheer friends from 8th grade year tried out and made it too.  All the girls met at Freddy's and waited to hear the news. It was a little loud, once the results were posted.  There were lots of squeals and hugs!

I'm so excited for Layla and her buddies to have another fun year of cheer together.

Layla's 8th grade cheer team competed in the NCA competition this weekend.

It was a long and busy weekend of cheering and giggles.  I stayed in a room at the Omni hotel with LK and two other cheerleaders.  They went to be late and got up super early.

Their routine was performed perfectly two days in a row.  They are so fun to watch!

We got to Dallas Friday afternoon.  They practiced Friday afternoon and performed Saturday morning and Sunday morning.  The rest of the time was waiting and wondering and lots of bonding.

I'm thankful for a fun group of moms to hang out with!

Our girls got 12th place in our division.  The competition was tough!  They amaze me and I can't wait to see these girls head into high school cheer.  I know they will continue to grow as a team in the years to come!!

Cheer camp is in full swing

Cheer camp started Monday and ended today.  It was so fun to see Layla come home each night more excited than the day before.  I feel confident she found her 'thing.'  She loves to tumble and she enjoys being loud and smiling.  She's doing what she loves!!

My heart literally broke when she tried out for All American cheerleader, but didn't make it.  I feel like she had a questionable attitude about it from the beginning, but we pushed her to do her best.  Her 4 closest buddies on the cheer team all made it, but she didn't.  I hate she didn't make it, but I also know as parents we have to help our kids deal with dissapointment.  During camp they had a tryout the last day.  She felt like she bombed the tryout.  As her parents we were there to comfort her, but dang it it was so hard to see her sad.

I think just to get nominated was a huge thing!  I'm super proud of my 8th grade cheerleader! I think her first cheer camp was a huge success.  She's sore and tired, but happy!!
