A day visit to the country

Sometimes you just have to jump in the car and drive to Bosque county for some time in the country.

It's always fun to stand around the fire and tell stories.

I'm thankful for a peaceful place to escape the city life.  The kiddos need to have a simple day every now and then away from the hustle and bustle of town living.

Thanksgiving 2016

We had a great day celebrating the turkey!!

After lunch Layla and I had some time together on the hammock.  It was super fun and a time I'll never forget.  She's a sweetie and I'm so thankful for her and our conversations.

Hayden was a busy boy between watching football, playing corn hole and throwing the football, but he managed to lay on the hammock with me for a bit too. {longest run on sentence ever}

I loved that we enjoyed our day in Clifton Texas.  I can't remember the last time I celebrated Thanksgiving in Clifton.  I was super young though!  I love my little hometown and I'm thankful my Aunt and Uncle still live there so I can share C-town with them!

Layla and I found this cute turkey on Pinterest.
We totally copied the post and made our own veggie turkey!

I'm thankful for today, but I am thankful every single day.  I want to teach my babies gratefulness.  I want them to know true joy and I think that comes from being thankful for what you have.  There is ALWAYS something to be thankful for!

a trip to the country

On Tuesday morning the kids and I took a road trip to my home town.  Now that the kids are older I enjoy driving with them in the backseat.  They usually watch movies with head phones on.  I can play my own music and THINK.  It is very nice!

We haven't been to Clifton in forever.
Honestly I can't remember the last time we visited Auntie's house.

Auntie knew about a fun splash park near her city, so we decided to cool off in the water for the afternoon.

Hayden loves to play in the water, but it is usually on his terms.  He isn't near as brave as Layla is around the water....yet!  But he did go down this small slide.  I was thrilled!!!

Of course after you swim all afternoon and get a fresh bath, you must have a Sonic blast to cool off.

Wednesday morning we woke up to a peaceful morning.  We sat outside on the front porch.  It was so quiet!  There was no roaring of the interstate highway in the background. Not that it is that loud at my house, but small towns seem so much quieter than where I live.

The kids had fun drawing a town with chalk on the porch.  Auntie and I enjoyed our coffee!

The kids got tickled at Schotzie the dog.  She sat right down on their "parking lot."
We were cracking up at them cracking up!

Hayden's favorite toy at Auntie's house...the cars!

There are all kinds of fun toys in the toy box.  Layla and BeBe are so goofy :)

The kids took a dip in the pool.

And then it was time to head home.  It was a fun but quick trip.

Thanks for having us Auntie!

the peaceful and quiet country

A few weeks ago we went to visit my Aunt and Uncle in what I like to call the country.  They live on a piece of property off the beaten path.  It is a wonderful quiet spot and I love to go there and relax. And an added bonus...my cousin was there too!

I am no photographer, but I do like to take shots here and there.  I took a few pictures, and I also took a ton of the kids.  They have so much fun in the country.  There is so much to explore.

***I am warning you...picture overload below***

This is my favorite picture that I took from that weekend.  You know me and my obsession with fences.

I love this picture of the guys just hanging out on the picnic table. It is no telling what those silly boys are talking about!  I love how they are all wearing blue.

And then Layla & Auntie are heading up to see what the boys are doing.

And a country weekend just wouldn't be complete without some golf.  There is so much country space we usually don't have to worry about broken windows!

This little man wore himself out.  He was bussyyy!

Layla covered every open sidewalk or driveway space with chalk.  That girl loves to write, doodle and draw.

This picture of the changing leaves is priceless!

My little explorer

And when the kids are done playing golf and chalk, lets play with a stick and rope.

They had a ball slinging sticks with a rope attached.  It made me laugh!

Who needs toys?

Layla was loving it!  She was laughing like crazy, doing a ribbon dance routine.

And dad just had to join in on the whole stick and rope thing too.  He is the one trying the rope to the stick.  So he just had to try it out!

Break time in the hammock.

The break lasted 2.3 seconds.

KP took full advantage of the empty hammock!!

Until Hayden was begging him to "get out and play wif me!"

We had a wonderful time with limited cell phone reception!  Everyone needs a break from technology!  It did me good, but thank goodness my camera worked.  Fun times like these have to be remembered in pictures!
