Atlanta Botanical Garden Field Trip

It was field trip day!

I got to ride the bus and help chaparone the trip to the beautiful flower garden.

My favorite part of the day was seeing this dog!

Layla was so kind to jump up there and get a photo with the pup.

It was such a fun day and I'm thankful for Layla's great classmates and teachers!

Nature Field Trip

Yesterday was a fun day for the kindergarten classes!  We went on a fun field trip exploring nature.

We touched caterpillars and all kinds of bugs.

We went on a super long nature hike through hills and along the creek bed.

I'm so thrilled I got to go with Hayden's class.

Hayden turned a rock over in the creek and found salamander eggs!  It was the coolest thing!

If you look closely you can see water lining the outer part of the leaf.  I thought is was so neato!

My very favorite thing about the day was seeing this simple little waterfall.  It was a little bit of heaven all tucked into the little forest we were exploring!  We had a great time exploring and learning!

Sweet Apple Farm

The kindergarten class went to a local pumpkin farm today.  It was a great day for it, as a cool front came in and it was pretty chilly on the hills of the farm.

I love the rolling hills, puffy clouds and all around amazing scenery!

The kids got to feed the goats, milk pretend cows and touch and smell different herbs and flowers.  We even got to go on a hayride!

Hayden was excited to pick some apples at "Sweet Apple Farm", but it is actually a pumpkin farm.  All the kids got to pick a pumpkin to take home.  The staff members told us the story of why it is called Sweet Apple Farm.  A farmer from generations ago named it after one of his cows.  They don't grow apples at all.

Layla brought home a cool carved pumpkin from the Castle sleepover she went to, so Hayden has been dying to carve a pumpkin.

Thankfully Gary was home today to help him with the carving.  I'm not so great at using a knife with hard vegetables.

Hayden cleaned the entire pumpkin himself.

Then he drew on a face with a marker and watched his daddy create the face!

Today was a great Monday!  I enjoyed seeing Hayden's classmates and getting to know a few new mommies on the fieldtrip.

The Wilds

We went to a fun zoo-type park called The Wilds.  It was so cool!  I absolutely loved it possibly more than the kids.

We went with 3 other families and that made it even more fun! We looked like a charter school...we had tons of kids running around!  We rode on an open air bus and the weather was perfect.  The breeze was even cool at times and it was mostly cloudy!

Our tour guide did a great job in my opinion.  She told us a little about each animal we saw in the park.

I think the kids had tons of fun!  Layla said the only way it could have been better was if she could have pet some animals.

The camels were so weird but so cool!

The crazy camel was making all kinds of funny faces and moving his lips around showing his teeth. It was grossly interesting! Ha!

This strange dude needs a haircut!

The giraffes were so awesome!  They were one of my favorite animals there.

There were three adults and one baby.

We watched the ostriches. Our tour guide made is giggle when she told us stories about how ostriches are not very smart!

The scenery was breathtaking.  I love beautiful landscapes and as you can tell I was in picture taking heaven. I think I took at least 100 pictures.

I loved seeing the curiosity on the kids faces. They really listened and learned about all the animals!

The deer decorate themselves with grass to make them appealing to the lady deer.  We actually got to see one in action.

He would move his horns down into the grass and toss the grass and dirt onto his back making himself 'handsome.'

We laughed as we watched! It was really cool to see.  We heard the story of why they do it, but to actually see them decorating themselves was greatness!

We also watched a few zip-liners. There was an awesome zip-line course.  I would be way to chicken to try it, but it looks fun from far away!

There are also cool cabins upon this little hill.  I'd love to stay there for a weekend as long as the animals don't come visit me.

We had a fun day with friends and I can definitely see us going back to visit the animals again some day.  The kids want to take their daddy!
