meet the teacher

Today we went to school for the kids to meet their teachers for the 2015-2016 school year.  We made the rounds around the school and the kids caught up with a few of their buddies too.  I'm excited for the kids to have a full year at their school.  They started last year in November here in Georiga.  I think it's confusing and frustarting to start mid-year.   They are excited about seeing all their friends and I am excited about getting back into a routine!

Everywhere we look in our neighborhood we see Kona Ice.  Why didn't we think of that?  Starting school earlier than normal is a bummer, but Kona Ice makes everything better!

Coming right up...

school, that is!

The kids got to meet their teachers today!  I am so excited about our new school year.

Because we moved houses, but in the same town, the kids will be going to a different school this year than they did last year.

Of course Hayden will, he is beginning kindergarten!

Layla is excited about switching schools and starting 3rd grade in our new school.  I thought she was going to be nervous, but she seems so much better with changing schools than she was in November when we moved here.  I know they are both nervous, because they said so, but I think they will both do great.

The new school is very small.  I think we will love it.  Both kids teachers were very nice and we look forward to a fun year meeting new friends!

Miss priss pot got a back to school hair cut.  She needed a few layers and I think styling her hair will be much easier now.  At least I hope.  The tears shed over brushing her hair are many, and not just from her.  I cry too.

This afternoon we organized all our school supplies.  We got all our new clothes all set and ready to wear.  We are still planning to pick our clothes out at the beginning of the week instead of every morning.  I can't handle the stress of arguing about what to wear each day.  Remember when I posted about our clothing organization

It really is such an exciting time of year.  This year we will experience fall here in Ohio and we will get to see the leaves change and fall to the ground.  It is such an adventure for us because everything is still so new to us Texas folks.  I have to say I am loving it.  I would've never thought our family would be so happy here in Ohio, but we are digging it!

a fun new school

Hayden was so excited when he woke up this morning because he new we were visiting a potential preschool.   We walk Layla to school everyday and he tells me he can't wait to go back to school.

H.C. reminded Gary bright and early this morning. "Daddy I am going to meet my new teachers today!"

We liked the school and Hayden was so happy to be around other kids.   The school is very different from our preschool in Texas, but it is small and really cozy.   Our neighbor attends this preschool and she was thrilled to have her new friend in her school.  It was the cutest thing.  She held Hayden's hand and showed him all around.  He was blushing, but he was happy to have her attention.  My heart melted just a little bit!

Here they are...Hayden is driving her around in their car!

I'm glad we found a school we both like for now.  I'm ready for Hayden to feel at home at his new school here in Ohio and I'm hoping this school can get him in shape to start kindergarten in the fall of 2013!

Meet the teachers!

This morning Hayden got to meet his Pre-K teachers.

I really think he is ready to get busy and have fun at school.  I am so excited for him.  A week or so ago he wasn't really excited about the idea of starting school again.  Once Layla started he seemed to be more interested.  I think he wants to be like her!

His teachers are really sweet and I'm sure they will teach him all the things he needs to know before starting Kindergarten in one year!  One year and he will be going to school 5 days a week like Layla.

Layla had a great first day of school yesterday and a great second day today.   I can tell her days are good because she is so tired at night. Gary has started his new job and he is liking it too.  Tonight the kids and I went out to dinner because someone looked at our house!  We went to eat a healthy dinner of cheeseburgers and blizzards from Dairy Queen.  The kids thought it was the best treat!  They hope our house shows every day so they can have ice cream.  I hope so too!

Meet the teacher night

Tonight we got to meet Layla's teachers.  She will have two teachers this year in 2nd grade.

2nd grade...eeeeiiikkkk!

The school mascot is a Longhorn.
How fitting ... there was a longhorn right outside the front door of the school tonight!

I'm excited for Layla!
She has had a really great summer and now she is ready to get back to school to see all her friends!

Can you believe she let me take these fun pictures of her?  She usually runs from my camera!

meet the teachers

My sweet boy got to meet his new preschool teachers this morning.

I am so excited for him.  I think he is ready to start school in a week!

I HAD to include this picture of him before we left.  He was eating scrambled eggs.  His little face makes me laugh.  It looks like those were some good eggs!

I love this picture of him with his new teachers...he looks so proud!  He is in the younger 3's class this year with 9 other kids, some of them were in his class last year.   Their classroom is gigantic and it is filled with books, puzzles and tons of learning toys.  Hayden is really into puzzles lately!

He seemed a bit nervous at first and even acted a kinda shy.  He was just walking around with his hands in his pockets checking things out.  I just laughed inside to myself.  He is so silly.  Finally, as we were about to leave he got super excited and started talking up a storm.  I hope he has a super fun year!  I can't wait to watch him grow and learn this year!

Meet the teacher

Tonight we got to meet Layla's 1st grade teacher.

I honestly can't believe I just typed that.  1st grade.  But it is happening, so all I can do is get ready :)

Layla is ready!  She loves to learn and I am thrilled for her.  I saw so many amazing books in her classroom.  Next summer I just know Layla and I will be reading chapter books together all summer long...by the pool.  Tonight she asked if she could have a Kindle.  She is my reader for sure!

Looking for her classroom!

My sweet munchkins.  Hayden is next...we will meet his preschool teacher soon!

Layla and one of her best friends.  They are the sweetest girls!

Layla is so excited to know so many people in her class this year.  There are 5 girls in her class that were in the same class last year.  That is super lucky.  I couldn't believe it.  AND a girl that is on Layla's soccer team that we didn't know before is sitting RIGHT next to her.  Layla is so blessed to be surrounded by friends.  I'm so happy to know their parents.  These are the kind of friends I want Layla to have from now on so I can feel good about who she is hanging out with.

My first grader.

Daddy's girl!

I am so thrilled for my big girl.  Before we left the school she made sure she knows how to get to her classroom so I don't have to walk her into the school on Tuesday.
This makes me happy and sad all at the same time.

meet the teacher

Bright and early this morning we headed to the school to meet Layla's new teacher.
She is the sweetest lady :)  I am so happy to have her teaching my Layla this year.  Layla is very excited and nervous about heading to kindergarten tomorrow. As we walked down the hallway to Layla's classroom I was so excited for her.  The school is so new and pretty and big.  We met her teacher and I filled out paperwork and we found Layla's locker.  Her classroom is so cute!  As we were leaving the classroom I started to feel my throat tighten.  Huh?  Me nervous?                            YES!!!!  The school was so big...there were so many people walking around in the halls.  It hit me all the sudden.  Why did the school have to be so big? What if they lost my baby girl?  Couldn't we wait and start her next year? I grabbed her hand and squeezed it tight thinking I could hyperventilate.  Why did she have to go to such a large school?  Maybe I could home school her?  And then I came to my senses.  I know she is going to be fine, but I am nervous for her.  She will do great...I loved school when I was little, and she will love it too.

Many people have asked me if I am going to cry on the first day of school.  I laughed and thought they were crazy!  But they are all right...I did cry.  Not on the first day.  But today when we got home...I cried.  I was so sad and I read this silly little story/letter that was put Layla's folder.  Thank goodness the kids were playing in  Hayden's tent. I keep telling Layla not to be scared, I didn't want her to see me upset. I never thought I'd be so emotional.  But I was, and hopefully I will be able to keep it together tomorrow.  After we drop Layla off at school, I am going to a kindergarten breakfast. I'm excited about it.  I will post lots of pics tomorrow of my girl's first day.

This little guy will meet his preschool teacher on next Monday.  His first day of preschool is next Wednesday.  I'm not sure how he will do, but I'm thinking he will love hanging out with the other kids in his preschool class.
