third and hopefully final victim

Well, I was the third victim of the stomach bug.  I went down just a few hours after Hayden did on Friday night.  It was the worst stomach bug on the planet.  I thought I was going to die.  I didn't get out of my bed until about 6:15 on Saturday night.

I never thought ice chips could taste so good!

Thankfully Gary only worked for a few hours on Saturday and Layla and Hayden were excellent kiddos.  I couldn't have made it without Gary.  Poor guy, between me and Hayden he didn't get any sleep.  He had to take care of Hayden because I was so sick.   Layla took care of me on Saturday.  She brought me crackers, Tylenol, and Popsicles.  She is a great nurse.

The kids have a school holiday tomorrow.  Hopefully we will all be well and able to do something fun.  We have been cooped up in the house since last Wednesday.  First with the sniffles, and then with the stomach bug.  We are ready for a fun week of normalcy!

cleaning up and hoping the germs go away!

I am finally feeling better.  Every passing day the sickie germs are leaving my body.  Today I felt good enough to put the Christmas decorations away.  I still need to vacuum and get the house feeling totally clean, but I am taking lots of breaks.  I don't want to do too much and feel yucky again.  I hate being sick and can't wait to feel 100% like myself again.

I am feeling so sentimental today.  I'm loving being home with these two babes while they are on Christmas break.  I'm thankful I get to be a stay at home mom so I can enjoy these snowy, cold days at home.  If I worked away from home I have no idea who would keep these little munchkins.  Thankfully I get to be here!  Gary likes it too!  I think he likes dinner hot and ready when he gets home from work.  And on that note I am heading into the kitchen to make banana bread and start dinner.

Christmas 2012

We had a great Christmas day!  We all stayed in our pajamas all day long and before we went to bed we changed into clean pajamas.  It was so fun for the kids to be here and play with their new toys all day long.  We got 3 new Wii games and so Gary and I had fun too.  I love playing games as a family, but they usually laugh at me because I get so mad when I lose.

Here are the kiddos right before we headed downstairs for the day.

I just love seeing their happy faces....

until they get downstairs and see their gifts.

Hayden said, BUT I WANTED A REAL GUITAR.

The boy was SO mad until he heard the guitar being played.  Then we was good with it and hasn't set it down since!

Layla was thrilled with her Furby.  I named it Snowflake.  She still calls it Furby.

Hayden loves his rockin' cool guitar.

Layla got a bear-ish looking animal.  It's an inkoo and you can color it and the ink is washable.  She has colored it twice and I have washed it twice.  It really is cool.  She loves this thing.  She loves it even more that she can change it's look.

Layla is showing Hayden how his laptop works.

Hayden loves all his gifts, but LOVES his wallet with attached chain.

He the wallet/chain concept a Disney Channel show and has been asking for one for weeks.  It is the cutest thing when he asks me to hook it to his pajamas.  haha!  He makes me laugh.

Layla was an awesome helper in the kitchen.

We made monkey bread.  It was a great Christmas Day breakfast served with eggs and bacon.

Gary surprised me with a new Keurig!  We have a regular coffee maker, but I have been asking for a Keurig for months.  We had Christmas coffee all day long!

I'm sorta thankful for a fun day of playing with toys and video games.  I am feeling terrible and can't seem to kick this cold.  I'm hoping I'll feel better soon!

Merry Christmas!!

a sick mom on Saturday

Today was one of those days when I let the kids do pretty much whatever they wanted all day long.  Gary had to work this morning and I woke up feeling absolutely terrible.  I can't remember a day when I felt so bad.

It all started about 5:00 am when I woke up with fever.  I felt so bad I couldn't get out of bed to get Advil.  I knew it was going to be a tough day.

The kids woke up around 8:15 and I told them I felt horrible.  They decided to crawl into bed with me and I was in too much pain to argue that they shouldn't be near me.  They started begging me to get up and make them breakfast so I allowed them to eat cereal and drink Capri-Suns in my bed.  Eating in our bedrooms is a giant No-No, but desperate times call for wild behavior.

I was finally able to get up and shower at around 1:00 pm.  After 3 bowls of dry cereal in my bed the kids decided to go downstairs to make themselves some sandwiches.  I was so proud of Layla taking charge.  She could have driven the car to Wendy's and I wouldn't have cared.  I was so stinkin' sick.  I made myself eat and slowly started to feel a bit better.

Gary got home and saved me.  He was awesome, but he wasn't feeling so good himself.  Hayden brought home all these germs earlier in the week and we have slowly passed them around.  Layla started sneezing before bedtime so I am hoping she doesn't get sick too.  YUCK!  I want us to be well for Christmas.

Since the babes were so good we decided to let them open one gift as a reward for being so sweet to their ol Mom!

PRESENTS!!!!

Layla was so excited to see this fun puppy she has been eyeballing.  Layla is such a sucker for dogs  and stuffed animals.

Daisy is right in the middle of everything the kids do.

Hayden loves his new monster truck and Daisy approves as you can see!

I am heading to bed in hopes of feeling better tomorrow.

slowly feeling better

I have been a quiet blogger this week.  Sadly nothing much is going on.  Layla and I are recovering from the flu.  Gary and Hayden are keeping their distance from us girls.

I miss cooking.  I haven't really been in the kitchen at all.  I can't wait to cook up some fun things.

I managed to muster up some strength to clean and do laundry today.  I feel much better since I got that done.  I was really moving slowly though.  It took me 1 1/2 hours to do what should have taken me  45 minutes, but it is done!

Layla went to school today for the first time in 3 days.  I was so worried about her.  I know she was so frail, but I got at email from her teacher and she did just fine.  I was feeling so worried about her since her cough is so bad.  Luckily she made it the whole day and came home ready to rest!

It is a rainy dreary day today.  The day started at about 70 degrees and now it is 48 and rainy!  We need the rain, but I was mislead by the weatherman.  I thought it was just going to be rainy.  I had no clue about the cold part.

Gary and I were going to start the kids Spring Break by sending them to my parents for a few days so we could go on an adult only trip with friends to Shreveport.  BUT with all the sickies going on we cancelled our trip.  Hopefully at the end of next week our family will all feel well enough to go camping for the last part of Spring Break.

We are also hoping to go see The Lorax.  I know the kids will love it and I am looking forward to movie theater popcorn.  Yum!

Have a great Thursday night!

tuesday tidbits

I've felt crummy today.  I caught what Layla has and apparently the entire elementary school in our neighborhood has the same sickness.  There were 6 kids out of Layla's class on Monday.  Every time I talk to another friend in our neighborhood they have a sick child.

I missed going to my Lifegroup today.  I have really enjoyed getting to know so many new moms.  Missing today made me sad, but I needed to veg out.

Layla was feeling good yesterday, but last night right before dinner time she got a fever of 101 again.  So she stayed home again from school today.  She seemed to feel pretty good throughout the day with only a few moments of coughing and low grade fever.

I'm not even gonna lie, I am afraid to send her to school tomorrow.  I know she is well enough to go though.  I just hope the sickness flying around school ends soon.

Layla sat down with Hayden today and helped him write his name.  I was laying on the couch listening to them and it made my mommy heart so happy.  My daughter was being so sweet to my son.  It was awesome.  Maybe I should keep her home from school more often.  Also I must add I should pay her for babysitting him today.  She was amazing with him while I was sickly!

Tonight when I hugged Hayden before bed he told me I was choking him.  Gosh, I thought I hugged him lightly because I didn't want to get too close to him.

Cougar Town is one of the funniest shows on TV.  Did you see it tonight with the whole Braveheart scene?   It almost makes up for the fact that Parenthood is over.  Not really though.  Nothing even compares to Parenthood.  I'm gonna miss it!

I am addicted to the iPhone app Draw Something.  I am a really terrible artist, but it seriously makes me laugh!  Sometimes I surprise myself and draw something really good and other times I am down right embarrassed of my drawing.

Gary is a rock-star husband.  He made stuffed peppers last night for dinner because I wasn't feeling well, and tonight he made homemade griddle burgers.   The kids would have had cereal both nights, but he cooked a yummy dinner both nights.  I was so impressed with his stuffed chili pepper creation.

And now I am hitting the hay hoping I feel much better tomorrow.
90210 is calling my name!  It is back on tonight!  Yay!

Good night and stay well!

Nasty Cold

I am not posting a menu for this week because I am feeling a bit under the weather.  I felt a little stuffy at the wedding this past weekend, but thought it was allergies.  Hayden was really congested and stuffy the entire weekend, so I have no doubt I caught a cold from him.  The ride home Sunday was brutal for both me and Hayden.

Gary woke up this morning and dressed both kids and took them to school.  On a typical school morning we usually tag team the chores, I do lunches, he dresses Hayden.  This morning he pretty much did everything.  I felt awful.  Once he got the kids to school he came home and repaired our fence that blew over on Friday during a wind storm, and then he did our grocery shopping for the week. He made the list and did everything...I love that man :)  He did lots of work too, conference calls and all that sort of work stuff.

I slept pretty much all morning and when I woke up I planned to get the kids from school, but he took one look and me and said he'd get them.  I must look terrible...haha!  I usually get a spring cold every year around this time.  I hope it passes soon.  It is so hard to parent when sick.  Since the kids got home from school they haven't stopped screaming and yelling and running wild.  I just know they are still exhausted from our long weekend.

I'm ready to feel better so I can post pictures of our weekend!

And a big Thank you to my awesome husband...I love you to the moon and back!

I hope you are having a good Monday!

down w/the sickness

I got nothing today.

Hayden and I ran a few errands this morning while Layla was at school.
We are doing a few upgrades to our travel trailer.
I should post some before and after pictures.  NOT TODAY THOUGH but we'll see.
I was getting a replacement part for the toilet.  FUN!

Gary is in the bed with the stomach bug.

I don't want it.

I don't want the kids to get it.

I hope he gets better soon.

Bless his heart.

Last night while we were watching Private Practice {don't even get me started on that show} he just said, I think I'm gonna be sick.  And wow...he was.  Have you seen a grown man projectile vomit?  He made it {for the most part} to the backyard.  I'm thankful that our living room is close to the back door.  Not a chance of getting to a bathroom.
Gosh...I'll just stop talking about that.

Needless to say he didn't get much sleep last night,
and just a few minutes ago I went to check on him.

HOT!  He has a terrible fever.

So I am off to the store to get more Tylenol and tummy meds.  Sprite and Gatorade.

Please say a quick prayer for the rest of our household to stay healthy.

I felt so lucky this year.  The sickness pretty much stayed away.  We just had the typical runny noses and stuff, but no stomach bug.

Shew bug...go away!!
