Bourbon Derby

This handsome forever date of mine is also my favorite co-party planner.
We had the best time planning and hosting our annual Kentucky Derby party.

As you know, my favorite part of life is taking pictures, so we loved the backdrop.

My favorite snack was the chex mix.  It was so unbelievably addictive and delicious.

Gary and I love having guests to our home.  We are thankful for our friends old and new.

Even though the race result wasn't what we hoped we still had an amazing night celebrating and entertaining.

Derby De Mayo

We had the best time celebrating the Kentucky Derby.  I love Derby day and have for years, so we always try to do it up fun.  We finally have our house and love to have parties, so the Derby will be a yearly occurrence!

10!

We had a great day celebrating our girl!

She's 10!  10!!!!!

She had a sleepover with 2 friends and we went to the mall to get her ears pierced.

She looks so grown up!

Of course we started the day with cake for breakfast in our pj's!

I'm so proud of my sweet girl!  She's a joy!

Aloha Party!

Today was Hayden's first grade end of school Aloha party.  The kids played tons of games including pineapple bowling, tube races and bag jump which in my day was the potato sack race.

They ate a fun lunch of pizza and cupcakes in the classroom.  I'm so thankful I was able to be there!  I can't believe they only have two days left.  Ssummer is so close.  Tomorrow Layla has her fourth grade party.  I'm about to have a second grader and a fifth grader!  Oh my!

Swedish MidSummer party

Gary and I are truly blessed by all the friends we have made here in Ohio.  We are surrounded by many many amazing people.  Some people are neighbors, some are friends we've met at work, some we met while working out, and others we've met through the kids schools.  We are so happy to know so many different people from so many different groups here in town.  I want to know as many people as I can, and in my opinion, you can never have too many friends!

We had so much fun last night when we attended my friend Annika's Swedish summer party last night.  We learned about Swedish traditions.  Annika made a pretty awesome Maypole and I didn't even know Maypoles existed before last night.  It was a fun party and I am so thankful I got a peek into Annika's life in Sweden.

We ate Swedish foods and we all wore flower head pieces.

We played games in the backyard.  The games were so fun and it was really fun to play boys against girls!  Some of us actually got paired against our husbands.  Oh it was so much fun!

Someone captured this fun picture of me in a relay race.  I'm carrying an egg on a spoon.  The girls won all the games!!  Look at the cute dog Gunner.  He's looking at me like I've lost my mind.  Ha! He might be onto something! ;)

Gary and I enjoyed our time out as adults.  The summer is fun, but momma is always ready for a fun date night.  I'm around the kids non-stop all summer, so I really enjoy getting some kid free time!  Thanks for a fun night Annika!  Love ya!!

Kentucky Derby

Angie, not to be confused with me, had a Kentucky Derby party.

We had so much fun!  I loved wearing a fun hat!  It was tons of fun for the whole family.

Layla even wore a hat and got into the Kentucky Derby spirit.

I have the best friends ever!  I love everyone here in my new town and I have made so many awesome friends.

We had the best time in our hats and dresses.  The race was so fun to watch and we all had fun cheering for our horses and screaming loud!

I had to have a picture taken with me and a Mint Julep.

I researched mint julep recipes and had a fun time making a batch of simple syrup and mint leaves. I don't think I'm a huge fan of mint juleps, but now I know how to make them!  They are the traditional drink of the Kentucky Derby, but since we celebrated Cinco de Mayo too,  I think I prefer margaritas.  I'll have a margarita tomorrow!
Happy Derby Day!
