{Feel} our Purpose

I look forward to my daily devotional.
It arrives every weekday morning in my email inbox.
I enjoy reading it while I have coffee, usually while the kids are eating breakfast.
Sometimes the house is quiet and I get to ponder the message while the kids are stuffing their faces with breakfast.  Sometimes I have to check back and read it later.
This one was from Wednesday.
It real hit home and I decided to share it!

Seek and be confident in who and what God has called you to be and do. Don't try to overcompensate by doing things that aren't part of what you're here for. That will just slow down progress and frustrate you and the people around you. You do your part, and let everyone else do theirs...
Romans 12:4-6a

Seek and be confident in who and what God has called you to be and do. Don't try to overcompensate by doing things that aren't part of what you're here for. That will just slow down progress and frustrate you and the people around you. You do your part, and let everyone else do theirs.

Sometimes I think we {as normal human beings} get so caught up in life we forget about ourselves and our place.

This verse and the comments that follow remind me of my word for the year...FEEL!  I did a whole blog post about my word.  It is almost June and I needed the gentle reminder to keep it all in perspective!

I am trying to do my part as one of God's children.  I want to do my part to the best of my ability.  I try to give 100% in all I do.  My dad always said I did my best if I gave 100%.  As a mom I am doing the best job I can.  I can't compare myself to other moms.  I am just 'feeling' my way through!

Do you get a daily devotional?
Do you recommend one I may not know about?
My current read is dailyverse.com.

tantrum anyone?

It is a happy Monday morning here in Just Shy of a Y land!
Daddy rose up super duper early and headed to the job site.
Hayden woke up crying and throwing a fit.
Layla woke up shooshing her brother. She thinks he's loud. "Mommy, I could have slept late, but he's loud!!"
And I woke up to early!

As I am typing this Hayden is still mad.

I did my morning thing, opened the blinds, made the beds, got coffee and milk for the kids. Well, coffee for me and milk for the kids. {no wonder he's throwing fits, he's all coffeed up...heehee!} And when Hayden took a sip and it didn't have strawberry flavoring in it...yep, even madder. He followed me all around the house pulling on my pants, crying. For no reason it seems.

I mentally went through the checklist on what could be wrong? Um yea....NOTHING!! An almost two year old Tantrum. He has been doing this for the past week or so every stinkin' day. I was worried he was sick with all the sickness going around. I have decided it is just a plain ol temper tantrum. So I strapped him into his booster seat in the kitchen with his plain old blah blah milk and stepped into the office for some therapy.

Typing and venting...thankyouverymuch!

See, isn't this face much better?!

It really is a happy Monday!
I had a great weekend; I took lots of food pictures.
I can't wait to share some soon!

So how do/did your kids throw fits?

What do/did you do to end the fits?

New battery & Leapster ?!?

The ole jeep has been running a bit slow lately.

I am so thankful that daddy is feeling better. {so far no one else has gotten sick...yippee}

Daddy and the kids are taking a look at the jeep today and will hopefully figure out what the problem is.

I think a new battery is in order very soon.

Do any of you have kiddos with a hand-held Leapster ?
Do you like it?
Any advise you can give would be helpful.
Layla has been asking for one, and I have several friends with children that really like them.
How about you?

Just a dusting & 'this n that'

Thank you all for the encouraging words yesterday.

I have decided to never mop again. Heehee!

And in other news we are no longer owners of that laundry mat.

We were able to finally get that all figured out.

********

Thanks to all you who offered ideas for my San Fran/San Jose trip!

I am very excited about that upcoming adventure.

We only got a dusting of snow this morning...yeehaw! It has pretty much all melted now.

I wasn't looking forward to getting a bazillion inches, but we were spared and I am so happy!

It is just down right cold...burrr.

The pups rear ends checking out the dust. They wouldn't turn around. Maybe they are sick of me chasing them with the camera just like the kids...HA!

I have been doing The 30 day Shred on and off since October.
I really hit it hard in January. I am also still sticking to my Weight Watchers plan.
Anyway, I hadn't lost weight for a couple of weeks, and so I stopped doing the Shred.
I lost weight again...weird.
I guess I started building more muscle. Which is okay, but I want to loose more weight.
Gary wanted to join in the exercise, and did the Shred a few times, but he wanted more of a cardio work out. I bought The Biggest Loser Cardio Max. We did it last night, and we really liked it. Similar to the Shred there are many different levels, so we just started with the first workout.

Anyway, switching it up will be great. I'm not going to stop Shredding, but Shredding everyday must be too much for me. The Cardio Max really gets my heart rate up...more than the Shred.

That is my exercise tid bit for the year..HA!

Nummy?

Layla never used a pacifier. Hayden loves his. I am afraid of this 'nummy' habit. I see so many kids older using nummys, and I don't want Hayden to be one of those kids.
****when I say older I mean older than Layla.****
We saw a girl at the store the otherday that had to be 4 or 5 with a paci!
He is laughing in this pic holding his nummy! I told him to take the nummy out of his mouth.

He took it out and put in right back in and was laughing like crazy!
He thinks it so funny when I talk to him about the nummy. If he sees it he points to it wanting it. I tell him that he doesn't need it. He and I are very open about this nummy thing....he wants it...I don't. He is 15 months old. When he was 12 months I almost took it away for good.
But Gary talked me into letting him keep it. Why? Because Hayden was getting 4 teeth at once and he wanted it. It seemed to be the only thing to soothe him. He is only gonna get more teeth....Arghhhh... I'm thinking I'm gonna get rid of it soon.

Advise? Is it to early? Too late? Has it gone too far? Should I only let him have it in his crib? Only for naps and at night? Or just junk it?

Dilemma

I take lots of pictures.

I have tons of pictures...

I love to take pictures, if you haven't noticed.

I got a handy dandy new camera and it takes really neat pics.

Once up on a time I could store a month of photos on one single CD. So I'd take pics, look at them and then store them on a disk. I like to keep my computer pic free and running fast. I don't know if my computer is slow because of the pics, or if it is just old and slow...ha! sounds like me. I don't want to bog my computer down, but lately I feel like I have. I can't put any of the pics on CDs. Why you ask? I don't have time...the new camera takes high res pics, and I can only get 3 or four pics on one disc. I'd be making CD's until next year and never be caught up.

What do I do? Some of you professional picture taking people PLEASE help me. Should I upload them to Shutterfly and let them store them for me? It seems like it takes forever for them to upload to Shutterfly. I guess I can just change the settings on my camera. All my pics probably don't have to be so high res. RIGHT?

What do you do? Any advise you have would be wonderful!

I don't want to miss any pics of this little face uh or back.
