our weekend

We had a fun weekend.  I participated in our fruit and vegetable co-op.  I got lots of goodies and I think the granola is my favorite thing.  It has cherries, pumpkin seeds & pecans.  The kids ate most of the pecans already.  They are little stinkers!

We had friends over for an impromptu fajita dinner.  We celebrated our anniversary of 12 years and their anniversary of 13 years.  We had such a fun time.  This family just meshes so well with our family.  I know I will miss them so much when we move to Ohio.  They are great people!

Gary found these clear motorcycle glasses for Hayden.  They make me laugh.  Hayden loves them and even wears his flame gloves too while riding his 4 wheeler in the back yard.  He thinks he is a real racer.  Heck...he is YO!

Hayden couldn't get enough of his daddy this weekend.  They are best buds!

Sunday evening we saw this amazing rainbow and a beautiful sunset.  God is so good.  He reminds us how awesome he is when we least expect it!

I made several batches of homemade salsa this weekend.  Ever so often I get a craving for salsa.  It  was really good.  Here is the salsa recipe I use the most!

The kids and I love to take 'selfies' every once in awhile.
Here is a fun one we took this weekend!

We are hoping for a fun week ahead!!  Happy Monday!

miscellany monday

1.  I am freezing today.  I am sitting on the floor right next to the fire and I am still not warm enough! But I love winter and am so thankful for it.  Winter is short around here and before long the hot Texas summer will set in.

2. Today is Layla's last day of Christmas vacation. Wednesday Hayden will return to preschool.  I love having the kids home, so I am a bit sad about the fact that they will be gone to school again. BUT I love my time alone.  I am ready for our routine again.  Layla loves school, so she is ready to see her friends!

3.  I need a new dishwasher. Mine is broken and has been since November.  I am getting really tired of washing dishes by hand.  But you know, the budget and all...ugh!  Hopefully this month I will get a new one.  We have lived in this house for almost 5 years.  The dishwasher is the one the home builder put in brand new.  Why didn't it last longer than this?  If you have a good, quiet dishwasher let me know.  As I said before...I am shopping.

4.  My 5 year old Layla Kate is a tattle tail.  She tells on me, Hayden and Gary. She should be a news reporter.  Seriously. It is wearing me out.  News flash...we are not perfect and one of us adults may or may not saw a bad word here or there.  Hayden repeats those words, and Layla tells on him. Or if Hayden spills something, or throws something.  We know about it.  Fun times I tell you :)

5.  Layla got a new Wii game.  Build a Bear. IT is so annoying. Cute and fun for her, but very annoying.

That is all the miscellancy I have for today.   I am going to enjoy the day with my kiddos.

Happy Monday!

way random miscellany monday

Ever have days when you are full of randomness?

Some days I am full of it and others not so much.  Today I am full of "bull corn" Maybe due to the candy corn high I am coming down from. I just don't think it is normal to love candy corn this much.  But I really do need to stop eating them.  Since the randomness is flowing as fast as candy corns are made in the factory...I am linking up with Carissa today.

There is entirely too much candy in this house. Barf.

We bought some to pass out, but we actually passed out, so we couldn't pass out candy.
Whew...that was a mouthful, but I'm sure you understand the total exhaustion of Halloween.  I fell asleep on the couch at like 9:00. The Ranger game did that too me. So sad sad sad. {shaking head in sadness}  Come on Rangers...let's do this thing tonight!!!

And more candy in the buckets. Barf.  But I will grin and bear it and let the kids eat some before most of it goes into the trash can. The kids get candy at Halloween, Christmas, Valentines Day and Easter too.  Do you ever feel like you are drowning in candy?

And here is an interesting tid bit for you....I did not pass out candy as I stated before, but my lovely neighbor did.  She informed me of some real craziness.  Apparently mothers were putting a bucket on the front of their infant strollers wheeling them up to the door so the 3 month old infants can get their share of the candy. Can babies get cavities on their gums? Oh...the candy is for the mommies and daddies....GO BUY SOME.  Let the real trick or treaters get the candy. Oh, I just don't understand sometimes.  Moving on...

See this bowl with the shower cap on it.  I love these kitchen "shower caps"!!  Sometimes I just don't have a lid.  These handy dandy bowl covers come in various sizes and are the best invention ever!  I got a 6 pack of them at the local Dollar General store. Score!!

And this my friends is an omelet.  100% pure protein.  Made by my personal chef  husband.  Oh how I love this man and the fact that before he locks himself in the home office he makes me omelets in the morning.  I could marry this man....oh ha!  I am married to him, and so thankful for that!!  And the omelet is filled with black beans, cheese, and of course two eggs.

And it must be topped with Clint's HOT salsa.  This is the best salsa if you like it hot!  We like it hot...not only is everything bigger in Texas it is hotter too.  MY cousin came for a visit a few weekends ago...Love ya KP!!!!  And he LOVED this salsa...he couldn't stop talking about how stinkin' good it was.  It is made in San Antonio, Texas.

Here is a close up of the label so you can go buy it today.  I wish they were paying me to say all this...that would be sweet!  But they aren't.  You know me though...always sharing about food.  I love food.

The label cracked me up...another reason I buy this brand...I like a good Salsa jar that makes you laugh.  Under the Refrigerate after Opening it says....Not Available in New York City.

That was really random!  Happy Monday :)

miscellany monday

[ONE]

I took this pic w/ my iPhone so it isn't the best quality, but I had to share it.  Layla is so into bows right now.  She puts them in her hair all the time.  She had her night gown on and her hair is still wet from her bath, but she has a bow in her hair.

[TWO]

I love my family!  The four of us are so silly all the time.  Gary and I were getting ready for date night and the kids were being so silly.  They were very excited to have a sitter coming over to hang out with them.  It was making them goofy!  We were making silly faces and giggling like crazy.

Why do kids like to stick their tongues out so much?  And then why do parents join in on the silliness?

[THREE]

Gary and I had a Freebird's burrito last week.  I dream about it.  Isn't it sad to dream about food.  That stinkin' burrito was so good and fresh.  Kind of like a burrito version of a Subway sandwich.  You walk through the line and choose the ingredients for your burrito.  If you haven't had Freebirds, you haven't lived.  YUM! So fresh and fattening.  I am back to counting calories today.  After this weekend...Ughhh.  I don't dare stand on the scale.

[FOUR]

Another food I dream about often is a BLT sandwich.  Did you know that bacon is it's own food group? { and i wonder why the scale screams at me. i am addicted to food }

I love Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato sandwiches.  And this one has much more on it than those three things.  I added avocado and this cheese:

Jalapeno cheese...thank you very much Kraft.  YUM!  This cheese is the best ever! And there is a coupon on Coupons.com for $1.00 off.  I printed it a million times, not really, but I printed it as many times as I could.  And also bought the Garlic and Herb flavor.  We love cheese in this house :o)

[FIVE]

Meet my Mini Me.  She has been begging for boots for the past few weeks.  I saw these very same boots on Carrie's blog worn by her daughter Emily.  I knew Layla would ♥ them too.  Layla and Emily are twins seperated by a few states. Heehee! Anyway, Layla loves my boots and wanted a pair of 'cowgirl boots'  Thank you Target.  We love Target!!  The denim skirt and boots both came from target...actually I think her whole outfit seen above came from Target.  Layla didn't want to wear the tights, but she has an ant bite on her leg.  It is really icky...I didn't want her to bump it and it hurt her, so she is just sporting tights today.  It is on the chilly side here anyway {thank you Lord for this weather} so she is ok with the tights!

Have a great Monday Y'all!!

miscellany monday

I made salsa yesterday and I intend to consume as much of it as possible before anyone else can have one single bite.  The hubs and I may scrap! I love salsa, any time of the year, but he loves it too.  So we fight over it.  HA! Not really, but he will eat it all if I don't watch out.

Don't you just love it when God talks right at you!  {not to you, but AT you} At church yesterday it was as if I was the only person in the room.  The message was for me~at the time I needed it.  Sometimes, when it comes to certain people in my life I tend to be a doormat.  I now know what I need to do.  I need to pray for them!!  I need to speak the truth with love, and let them take it as they will.  I have to stop trying to be a peacemaker.  I am good with what God has asked me to do concerning the situation. I wish I could blog more about, but I can't.  How's that for miscellany?

I am craving cupcakes. I do not need cupcakes.  Yesterday I ate all day long.  I was starving like I hadn't eaten in 6 months.  What is that about?  I couldn't help myself.

We ate breakfast for lunch and breakfast for dinner. And left over pizza for lunch.  Spectacular diet...right?!? Ughh!  But I did find an app for my phone that I love!  It is a fun calorie counter. I do the best when I am held accountable.  Yes, to myself!  Journaling the food I eat totally works for me. It keeps me in line.

In other news: I can't make a tooting noise with my arm pit.  Can you? You know, when you cup your had under your pit.  Please tell me you know what I am speaking of.  I can't do it, never have been able to.  The kids and Gary were trying to do it the other night.  Laughing like crazies.  I couldn't do it. Poo & ha!

So, now you know!

Happy Monday to ya, and for more miscellany posts head over to Carissa's bloggity blog. You must visit her anyway to see her sweet babies.  They are A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E!!

miscellany monday

1.}

 I painted 40 toenails and 40 fingernails this past week.  All in one night.  It was fun.  When my friend Shelby came to visit I recommended that us moms do manicures and pedicures for fun.  Shelby doesn't paint fingers or toes, so guess who got to...yours truly.  I had to hold my hand super steady to paint those little toes and fingers. And then I painted mine.  It was fun so fun, and the girls giggled and laughed the whole time :)

2.}

Sometimes I dream about fried pickles.  They are so good.  I live in the Fort Worth area, and one of my best friends lives in the Dallas area.  Half way for us just happens to be Grapevine.  We both LOVE  I mean really love hot wings and so the best place to meet for us girls is Hooter's.  We enjoy our lunch every time.  We try to do it once a month, but life sometimes gets in the way.

3.}

Have you ever wanted to smack yourself?  I have.

 Recently I purchased this bread maker (I blogged about it last week.) at a garage sale for $7.00.  The sweet lady I bought it from used it one time.  You can tell.  It is spotless.  It was still in the box.  A sweet friend of mine from my hometown sent me a recipe via Facebook {thanks Vickie...my family thanks you} and now I am hooked!  The recipe is AMAZING!!  And now I want to make bread every day. And eat it all by myself while my kids are napping.  But, I can't do that.  It isn't good for my girlish figure.  But I am very happy and will pace myself when I bake a loaf of bread :)

4.}

My mother made me this apron and I still wear it!  It is so me.  I love to talk and never shut up, so if the apron fits?!?  I love aprons...they are fun.  I want more aprons.  How is that for randomness!  And why do my posts always end up being about food?  Clearly~I have a problem :)

I am linking my blog to Carissa's today.  To see other random and fun Monday posts head on over to Carissa's blog.  Link up your blog too if you are full of miscellany today.  Everyone is doing it :)

hot monday

Holy moly check out that crazy HOT forecast.
I am perspiring just thinking about how hot it is gonna get this week.

Too cool off I am going to be eating a ton of salsa.  It is safe to say I am addicted.

This is my personal chef.  He is awesome, and per my request he spent all day on Saturday cooking this brisket.  He took it off the pit at 10:30 pm before we went to bed.

We ate it yesterday with cole slaw.  Yummers!
 I will be snacking on it all week.

I found a lovely bread maker at a garage sale on Saturday morning. I have been looking for one for months!!  The sweet lady said she used it twice. I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a bread maker, because we don't eat that much bread.  BUT, you know me...I love trying new things in the kitchen.  So, I am gonna give it a whirl.  Any tips you have are greatly appreciated.  I bought whole wheat flour and am about to sit down with a cup of coffee and read the manual.  I really do mean what I say when I say ... I have NO IDEA what I am doing.

I can't see straight thinking about that forecast.  108?  Ridiculous!

Stay cool y'all!

hello monday

ONE

Gary and I went away for the weekend.  We were at a lake and there was little to no cell phone service.  It was nice.  I needed a break.  I took the weekend off from taking pictures, blogging, tweeting and texting.  I took about 5 total pics.  While I am sad about it, and not having pics of our memories, I am happy that I relaxed!

We went on a night time boat ride with a handful of our friends.
The moon was full...it was so pretty.

We rode on one of the 5 jet skis we had at the boat dock. I had a GREAT time hanging out with my friends and husband.  We ate greasy cheeseburgers from a little hole in the wall restaurant near the lake.  We got breakfast burritos in the morning, and we ate chips and dips for lunch.
It was wonderful...a total break for me...no cooking...gasp!

TWO

The kids wanted to ride the jet skis so badly, but they had to stay behind at Auntie's house.

They finally got to climb on the skis on Sunday morning when we picked them up.  I couldn't imagine getting back on those monsters.  I am still sore from riding them and it is Monday morning!

THREE

My little Hayden turned two yesterday.

He got a tricycle.

After his bath he was climbing on it.  He really isn't sure what to do with it.  HA!

Boys will be boys right?!?

FOUR

We had a wonderful weekend away, but came home to quite a mess here at home.

Apparently a lightning storm rolled through our neighborhood on Friday evening.  Our house and our neighbors house felt the effects of that.  We have LOTS of things not working.  I am so bummed out.  Just to name a few, our TV in the living room, our land line phones, our security system, the Wii, and even another TV in another room doesn't function properly. Never a dull moment in our household.

 Happy happy joy joy!
