goalie for the last game

Last Saturday at the game Hayden hurt his knee, so today for the last game he played goalie.

He  did an amazing job.  It's so hard to see him limping and I know he wants to run and play hard, but he just can't.  He had a wonderful season and scored at least 2-3 goals per game.  I just love watching him play.  I hope his knee feels better soon and that he is back to running fast soon.  You know when you're 8 years old it is all about how fast you can run!! :)

Dragonflies soccer

Today was the Dragonflies last soccer game of the spring season.  It was a fantastic season and I am so proud of Layla.

I can remember a time in Ohio when Layla played soccer and she hated it!  She didn't want to go to practice, and absolutely hated the games.  I know she loved the sport, but coaches and teammates are so important when playing a sport.

This season in Georgia she was blessed with a coach that rocked.  He knew how to build the girls up.  He saw their strengths and weaknesses and helped each and every girl get better and build more confidence.  I'm not sure if he's coaching again next season, but if he does we would love to have him coach Layla again.  She improved and acquired so many new skills this season.  It was so fun to watch her grow and learn and I couldn't be more proud.

She took a hard ball to the chest on Saturday.  She got the wind knocked out of her, but she recovered and played again later in the game.  The game was rough and they fought hard, but ended the season with a loss.  I don't think anyone on the team really lost though.  They all gained tons of memories and friends to last forever.  It was a winning season for sure!!

soccer saturday

I love watching the kids play soccer.  I try not to get my camera out because I enjoy just watching, but I had to snap a few pics with my BIG camera today.  I love my Canon and I just don't use it like I did once upon a time.

I can't get over how tall Layla looks in this photo.  Her legs are so long!

She's like a gazelle!

Haha!  In this picture too!  She's chasing that ball!

Layla was so freaked out by this girl.  The girl tripped Layla and I was so proud Layla got back up and went back after that ball!

There she is battling the same defender.  It was a great game!

Go Dragonflies!!!

And then it was time for the Blaze!

Hayden is having a great season!

He is punishing that ball,

I have to think he is a bit distracted by his itchy skin.  Look at him scratching his head.  He's a mess with eczema right now.  I'm gonna have to break down and buy some essential oils.  Poor guy is a mess.

But it doesn't stop him...

He loves this game!  His face is a show of determination.

We had a successful day of soccer today!  I'll be sad when the season ends.

all week, every week...

...our lives are consumed with soccer!

and we love it.

I'm so proud of these kids and their dedication.

We had soccer practice 3 days this week and games 2 days this week.  These munchkins are busy and they don't seem to mind.  I think they do sleep well at night!

soccer soccer and more soccer

Oh me, oh my.  It was a wild day of soccer.  Hayden scored 3 goals and played awesome, but they played the hardest team they have played this season.  It was great to see them play a really hard team, because they worked harder and fought to try to come back.

It was a chilly 34 degrees at 8:30 when we showed up for Hayden's game.  Brrrrr.  We thought wow, is this Ohio or Georgia?!?

Layla is on the right in this picture with her pony tail flying!  She played her heart out also, but their team lost as well.  They also played a really talented team.

Layla played defense almost the entire game.  She played so hard and kept that ball away from a really tall and really good offensive player on the other team.  It was a fun and exciting day of soccer!

spring soccer is in full swing

These two munchkins had their first soccer games today!
They each had one practice due to the snow and rain we've had, but both of their teams played great.  I was impressed with their ability to work together even though they all just met.

Layla's team won and she played great!  She ran her heart out and I am so proud of her.

Hayden's team won their game also.  He scored 2 goals!
He looks ready to play in this picture huh?!?!

Hayden looks so tall this season.

I love seeing Layla back out on the field with that pony tail swinging!

soccer soccer soccer

Tonight was the last soccer practice of the season.  Hayden has two games this weekend.  One on Saturday and one on Sunday and then he is done!  I can't believe how fast the season has gone by.  It's been so fun to see their team play and get better every single game.

he's a sweet little itchy man

Hayden's face was swollen after soccer on Sunday.  His eyes were red and he was worn out from a fun soccer game.  Why was his face swollen?  Because of the grass.  He is so allergic to grass.  It's so sad for a boy who loves being outside, but we are managing it quite nicely.

I decided to get him gear to wear while he plays soccer and he is pretty much totally covered from neck to toe.  Hopefully this will work for keeping the grass off his legs and arms.  He was so mad at first, but he kinda digs the fun new getup now!

Gary and I are really proud of our little guy.  He's doing great in first grade.  He's loving writing.  He's learning to read and really mastering learning his sight words.  As you can see he has a style of his own.  He's learning so much on the soccer field and getting much better at playing his favorite sport.  He is the sweetest boy and I love his sweet heart.  He's very loving and thoughtful.  I'm so happy he's my little man!

fall soccer is in full swing

Let the games begin!!!  Hayden was so thrilled for his first game today!

I love to watch him run and play.  I'm so glad to report that so far we have his asthma under control. Last spring he had a few issues, but he's ready to play and we have his rescue inhaler if we need it.

Go fight win!  I'm sure I'll post many more pictures of fall soccer!

fall soccer is here!

Hayden's first soccer practice went great tonight!  He's very excited about this new season!

He loves to run and dribble the ball.  I think he'll have a great season.

Layla and I sat and chatted and watched him play.  She's his biggest fan!

The last soccer game of the season

Hayden got a medal today at his last soccer game of the season.

I have really enjoyed watching him get better and better with each game.

It was a little hard for him today because his allergies have been awful and he is wheezing so bad.  I wish he could have played more and ran faster, but he was really struggling.

He's excited to play again next year!

double header

Hayden has two soccer games this weekend.  One today and one tomorrow.  He's so much better this season and he's so fun to watch on the field!  We're having a fun season and enjoying the great spring weather!
