Our new normal

This is our first day of school picture!

Our district gave the kids an extra week of spring break while the teachers prepared lesson plans for online learning, so today was our first day.  Look at these kiddos.  They look ready to learn.

Hayden is easily distracted by his furry best friend, Whiskey.  She is a mess, but such a blessing right now during this quarantine. She steals socks and potties on the floor.  She tries to chew cords and really is a MESS!  We do love her so much though.

Selfie time.  Gangs all here!

Lily is gazing out the window, dreaming, like the rest of us.  Whiskey is taking a moment of reflection.  They are just so thankful their humans are all home and paying them so much attention.

back to school!

School is back in session!  We have a 4th grader and a 7th grader.

Layla is starting her first year at the middle school and Hayden is finishing up his last year in elementary school.  I am starting my second year at the high school.  We are looking forward to a fall filled with soccer, gymnastics and tons of football watching!

it's the first day of school here in Texas

we have a new routine for drop off and pick up since I'm working this year.  i'm nervous for their first day and mine.  it is crazy that after 11 years we are in school together.  i think this will be a wonderful year as we all get into our family groove together.  we are all adjusting and adapting and dad isn't left out of this equation as he just started his brand new job in July!

i must explain my silence....

We moved!  To Georgia!

Here are the kiddos on their last day of school in Ohio last Friday!

This is a picture of them yesterday on their first day of school here in Georgia!

Their first and second days at their new school went great.  I'm so relieved.

It has been a fast and furious few weeks since Halloween.  Somehow I need to post all the pictures I took in between now and then, but unpacking is my priority.  Oh unpacking....  Yuck, but I'll feel so much better when it's over.

I'll post more about our move and all our adventures soon!

Hayden's first day of kindergarten

Hayden has been so excited about his first day of school!

He was all smiles every time he talked about starting this new adventure!

Here he is with Layla on her second day and his first!

Bless his heart. He was fine until he walked into his classroom. He got so nervous and didn't want to stay. I felt so bad for him and was shocked to see him so scared. Gary and I quickly left his classroom and apparently he did just fine! When the end of the day rolled around he was very excited and couldn't stop talking about how much fun he had! I'm so happy for him. I was worried when we left him.

I'd say both kids had a great back to school experience. I'm praying for a great school year for us all!

Layla's first day of 3rd grade

I'm so proud of my sassy girl!

She started her second new school in less than a year.

She was a little nervous this morning when I walked her into the school, but this afternoon she was talking 100 miles a minute!

She had a fun homework assignment with a list of silly things to do, including writing her name with her toes!

She had a great first day and was literally climbing the walls with excitement! Haha!

Hayden starts school tomorrow and Layla has been such a positive influence when it comes to school! He's very excited and ready to go.

First day of preschool in Ohio

My little man was so VERY excited about starting school today!  He has been asking for a week when he could go to school again.

The preschool we chose is very close to our house, so we can walk to school just like we do with Layla.  It is so fun to walk the kids to school.  Hayden really enjoys watching the squirrels play on our walks.  There are tons of squirrels in our neighborhood because of all the trees.

"I had a great day mom!!  I played with the boy wearing the blue shirt.  He's pretty cool."
Oh my gosh, how old is he 4 or 14!?!?

First Day of Pre-K

Today was Hayden's first day of Pre-K and he was so excited.  I'm glad he was excited because last year he cried and clung to me like press n seal wrap for the first 2 weeks of school.  If you've used press n seal you know that was exhausting!

This morning he was pumped!  He walked in and grabbed his pencil box and started coloring.  When I picked him up this afternoon he hugged the snot out of me and said he loved school and he said he wished he could stay there all day long!  haha!  Well, you kinda did buddy!

Once we got home he asked to watch the Leap Frog DVD, The Letter Factory.  He said his teachers recommended it.   Lucky us, we own it, so I popped that DVD in faster than any movie I've ever set up for him.  He was just asking to learn.  Yippee!

Since BOTH kids were at school I used my free time wisely.  I got my hair cut.  I think my hair was the longest it has ever been.  I loved it, but I was ready for a change.   If you follow me on Instagram this is old news, but I got 5 inches cut off the back of my hair.  My new style is a  fun long 'swing' cut, so my hair is longer in the front than in the back.  It's fun though because it doesn't have any layers.  When I grow my hair out it will grown out nicely.   I enjoy growing my hair out and then cutting it off.  I get really bored with the same do.  I like to mix it up!

Tonight I am resting.  After I left my hair appointment I have been busy every second.  I ran by Kroger to grab a few things and by the time I got home to put them up I had to get Hayden and Layla from school.  Once I got home and grabbed snacks for them I needed to work out, so after 45 minutes on the stationary bike it was time to cook dinner and help with baths.  After I tucked the kids into bed I showered and plopped down on the couch in a puddle of exhaustion.

I just remembered the cutest thing Layla said tonight before bed.  She said, "Mom, I am so excited about school tomorrow!  We are doing a science experiment!!"  She is excited about science and he is excited about learning his letter sounds.  I'd say today was a success all the way around!

First day of 2nd grade

Layla was excited and nervous when she woke up this morning.

I made her fresh strawberry muffins for breakfast.  She took a few bites, but didn't eat much.

I know I'm just her Momma, but I think she is so adorable.  She picked out this dress at Old Navy for back to school.  Last night she said, "Mom is it too dressy for the first day?"

Um no!

Daisy seemed excited for Layla.  She was jumping all over her when I was trying to take pictures!

Hayden was very excited for Layla too.  After we dropped her off about 30 minutes had gone by and he was ready to go pick her up!  He has checked the clock 5 times today waiting for it to be time to go get her.  He really misses his best bud!  They got really close this summer.

I could tell Layla was nervous.  Bless her heart.   I'm sure once she got there everything was great! I remember those first day stomach jitters.

I just had to post a picture of her Thirty-One book bag and lunch thermal.  She designed them herself and she was so proud to show them off!

I hope she is having a great day.  I can't wait to pick her up!

1st day of Preschool

Hayden was super excited about his first day of school today!

He got up early and was dressed and ready to go.

He was a champ while I took a million pictures of him.

He had a breakfast of milk and pop tart bites.

This picture cracks me up.  He is loaded down and ready to go.  Poor guy, his back might break. heehee!

I can't believe he is such a big boy!

Hayden didn't get upset at all.  He was ready to play.

I wanted to tear up, but he didn't.  He sat down with his buddy and they did puzzles.

I can't wait to pick him up...I want to hear all about his fun day!
