we finally got on the boat!
It's no secret we have had tons of rain. The lakes all near us are many many feet above normal water levels, so most docks and parks are closed for boating and camping and anything lake related.
We love Lake Whitney and our buddies put the boat in the water, so we joined them for an afternoon of fun. I'll be honest with you, I was not thrilled to go. I just knew all the people in the world would be on the lake on a holiday weekend. I didn't want to have to see huge logs and debris from the flooding. I was basically just a grump about going. We did end up having fun. It was a challenge getting to the boat on the water, but all in all we had a wonderful time in the sun.
The girls did a little tubing.
Gary and Jarred rode the Airchair. It was windy and the water was choppy, so we had the must fun just sitting in the water floating around watching the kids jump from the boat. My favorite thing!!
I'm thankful for no injuries. I'm thankful for a fun day with good friends and I wish I hadn't been such a nervous Nelly, but heck I guess someone has to worry for everyone right?!?!

Mother's Day 2015
I enjoyed a fun day on the lake today for Mother's Day!
Gary got to do alittle wake boarding and I got to do some sun tanning.
We took snacks and drinks and pretty much spent all day on the water!
The kids tubed so much that the back of Layla's thighs got sunburned. She's hating the burn, but she had so much fun on that tube with her buddies.
We did some floating in the water and jumping off the boat.
It was a great way to spend Mother's Day! I'm so happy for the warm sun! I feel like I got more sun here in Georgia in one day than I ever got in Ohio. It's great to be back in the south!!

spring fever and barefeet
When we lived in Texas I would get spring fever towards the end of February.
I would be ready for March to bring in warm and spring like temps. This year after having lived in Ohio for the past two years, I am ready for Georgia to show me an amazing spring right now, not at the end of the month. I want warm sunlight streaming through my kitchen window as soon as possible. I saw the forecast though and it's going to be cold again this weekend and next week. :(
We got a glimpse of AMAZING weather this weekend.
I moved to Georgia with high hopes of warmth, but so far it's been cold. Nothing like the Ohio cold, but still cold. I keep reminding myself if I were in Texas it is cold there also. It's cold all over the US right now. That doesn't change the fact that I can't wait to sweat again. I got in the swimming pool 2 times when we lived in Ohio, because to me it never got hot enough to swim.
I hope Georgia doesn't disappoint. I have some high expectations. Hahahaha!
Saturday we walked to the park to play.
{street walker selfie}
The kids were so excited to be outside running and cart-wheeling.
Look at those bare feet!
Hoooray!
Today we walked to the end of our street and down a nature path to the lake. Yes, I said lake. We are near lakes again. In Ohio we were surrounded by rivers. Now we have a lake really close to us. I had no idea about this fun path until my neighbor told me about it. It's amazing!
Right now the water level is very low, but soon they will open the gates and we will have water to splash and play in. Lake access so close to home is a fun thing!
Hayden loved throwing rocks and sticks into the creek.
We followed the creek all the way to the lake area.
All this area will be covered in water. How cool!!
After our nature hike to the lake we decided to head to the park again. We had hopes of kicking around the soccer ball, but the kids just wanted to run and stick their toes into the playground sand again like they did yesterday. I can't blame them. Soccer will be in full swing in a couple of weeks. I'm happy they just want to relax.
Dad and I enjoyed watching them play a fun game of tag! We loved having the warm sun baking our skin. I think this little bit of sunshine is enough to remind us of what is to come when spring has finally sprung here in our new state!

we found a fun lake!
Gary was off today and so we decided to explore a new lake.
The kids loved playing in the sand and rolling in the waves.
Looks like a cool yoga pose, huh?!
The inflatable floating island was pretty fun too.
Hayden always takes monster trucks to play in the sand. They roll and splash in the trails he makes for them and of course Layla builds castles for them to drive into.
Getting buried in the sand is the best part. We had a super fun beach day!

golf camp finale & the lake
[this post has an overload of golf camp pictures]
Thursday was the last day of Layla's first ever golf camp. We've seen serious improvements in her putting skills. She's doing much better using a wedge and she can hit the ball much further with her driver.
They had a putting contest on the last day. It was fun watching her putt!
The girls also had a chipping contest and I really think Layla should have won that competition, but another little girl beat her by one chip. She did good!
They had one final competition using their driver. Layla's driver is a tad too big for her. I'm sure she will grow into it just fine.
In the picture above Layla is getting her participation award. She was so fast running up there and bad. She can be so shy sometimes around lots of people.
After golf camp we cooled off my going to a lake near our house.
The kids giggled and laughed while riding the stingray tube.
I didn't ride it, but I think I could have taken a nap on that thing! It looks so relaxing!
We let the kids rest in between tube rides. While resting us adults enjoyed floating in the water while the kids jumped off the boat. {if you all that resting} They were doing tricks and laughing like crazy. We were all just hanging out in the water and an airplane flew right over our heads. It was so fun. It's almost like the pilot was putting on a private show just for us! It was super cool!
haha! This picture just cracks me up!
Layla had the time of her life. She loves being on the water!
I wish I had gotten a few pictures of Hayden. He didn't ride the tube, but he jumped in and out of the lake a million times. This is HUGE! He wouldn't even put his big toe into the water the last time we were at the lake. This time he was a rock star! I was so proud.
