This Saturday is for clovers and food trucks

We had a fun time at the Food Truck Showdown here in downtown Waco.

We got dressed up in our green and hit the streets before the rain and storms blew in!

My favorite thing was the cheesecake egg roll.  It was amazing!!!!!

Of course we toasted with green beers and March Madness.

The storms rolled in and we stayed inside and listened to the rain pound the roof and windows.  We turned on our Amazon Echo and set it to 80's music and guessed at who sang each song.  It was a blast and we laughed and danced and enjoyed our kiddos and friends!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We started our day with a little green milk in our cereal and a bowl of kiwi.  The leprecaun left the kiddos some money and skittles.  Everyone is wearing for the day!

Hope you have a great GREEN day!

Monday Funday

Gary was off work today so we had the whole day to hang out!

Once we dropped the kids off at school we had breakfast at one of our favorite places.

After breakfast we worked in the yard.  Ughhh!  Our yard is a huge mess of leaves and pine straw.  I'm a Texas girl and where I'm from we use mulch for our flower beds.  Here in Georgia they cover the yards with pine straw.  It's their form of 'mulch.'  It's everywhere and our yard needs grass, but the landscaper put pine straw everywhere instead of grass.

Our workout today was raking and bagging all this stuff.

Once the kids got home from school we all wanted to celebrate St. Patrick's Day a day early.  We headed downtown to a fun rooftop patio for an early dinner.

The kids LOVED sitting up there!  I loved the sunshine on my face!

Then of course the kids had to cool off with some frozen yogurt!

The weather is so wonderful!  We took the top off the Jeep and let the wind blow our hair!

Gosh I love these kiddos.  They are so fun to hang out with!
Thankfully they get just as excited about holidays as I do.

St. Patricks Day Weekend

We had a wonderful green weekend with friends!

I'm so happy to have my husband back!  He was out of town for 8 days and we missed him so much.  He came back just in time for an awesome weekend of fun.

We had several bonfires and enjoyed the warmer Ohio temperatures!

We had a few green beers and green s'mores for the kiddos!

Happy St. Partick's Day!!

St. Patrick's Day Weekend

St. Patty's Day is a fun holiday because it's a great excuse to drink green beer with friends! We went out on the town Saturday night and I laughed so hard the whole night. We have some funny friends here in Ohio. Gary is one of the funniest guys I know and the other guys are just as funny, so you can just imagine the belly laughs. It was awesome to laugh and act silly, especially after a tough week of Gary traveling.

A little word of warning though...

Don't leave your iPhone laying on the table unattended. Your friends just might update your Facebook status with random crazy-ness. It was too funny to delete. Haha!

Gary is quite certain I've done an Irish Car Bomb shot in the past. Honestly I don't think I have, but I did Saturday. Wow! It was good, but bad. It is Guiness beer with a floater of Jamison's Irish whiskey and Bailey's Irish cream. You must drink it fast or the hole drink turns into a mess. Pssshhhh and yuck! It was such a fun night!

We had a green appetizer of fried pickles. Whoever thought to fry a pickle? I'd kiss them right on the mouth if I met them. Fried pickles are a favorite of mine! I'd never had a fried spear until I moved here. Usually we eat fried hamburger sliced pickles, but hey, a pickle is a pickle and a fried pickle is even better!

If you follow Just Shy of a Y on Facebook you've already seen our breakfast from this morning, so sorry for the duplicate. And if you don't follow on FB go do it. I'm digging FB right now. I go through phases where I like Twitter or Instagram more, but I've loved following some of my favorite blogs in my Facebook feed! Ok...enough of that on to the picture.

The kids woke up searching the house for a Leprechaun. It was fun to see them setting up a shoebox to catch said Leprechaun. Hayden's school did a great job of getting him all excited about St. Patty's Day. The kids loved our green eggs, green pancakes and green chocolate milk. We had bacon too of course, and that was basically the end of our food making for the day. We ended up skipping lunch and eating giant cheeseburgers for dinner.

We were quite lazy most of the day and it felt great. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna sound like a nerd, but I'm addicted to Candy Crush. I'm stuck on level 20 something. It's killing me. See. I told you I sound nerdy, but I love the game. Every once in awhile I find a fun game on my phone and it sucks me in. Candy Crush is fun, you need to play. You're welcome!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

our green day

I love St. Patrick's Day. I don't know why, but I just love any reason to celebrate.  We always make big deals of all holidays and with kids it's always double the fun!  I woke up ready to pinch everyone, but they all had green on.  Poo.  I didn't pinch anyone all day long.

We started the day with a little fishingin our pj's.

We wanted to go 'real outdoor' fishing, but it was so windy and the kids stayed up really late last night, so they were crazy today.  Morning, noon and night they were wild.  My kids with little sleep = chaos!

Layla and I painted our nails green.  Yes, a bit wild, but we were having fun!
My polish has already started chipping off.  The only thing bad about at home manicures, they never last.

This picture of Hayden cracks me up!  Can you see why?

We took family pictures today in our green attire.  You know the kind, where you set up the camera and use the auto timer.  They all turned out crazy.  They were horrible. bad bad bad. So I deleted them.  All the pictures I posted here were all I took today.  I was a picture taking slacker.

I was a slacker period today.  I had such big plans...to make cupcakes, do a craft or two and make green jello.  All the spring break {no routine} fun has caught up with us in this house.  It was nice to lay around and watch basket ball.  For the record, we are not basket ball watchers.  We only watch basket ball during March Madness.  Hayden woke up from his nap today and asked what we were watching.  He thought the players were fighting.  Then he asked if we would turn the channel to golf.  I cracked up!
Kids are so silly. I can't wait to publish a post I have been working on for several weeks. It is random things my kids say.  They are true and hysterical.  I jot them down and add them to a draft post. One day soon I will share in the hilarity!

I hope you had a wonderful St. Patrick's Day!
