Dessert (a popular word in our home)

My children are always asking for dessert.
Sometimes after breakfast too. No, not really, but I feel like it!

I wanted to eat this dessert, but I didn't. Banana boats with peanut butter, caramel and sprinkles!

I gave each kid a whole banana and they couldn't finish it. It was too much. I guess the peanut butter is pretty filing.

I'm thinking the sprinkles got them. I could put sprinkles on anything and they'd think it's dessert!!

Intense coloring

I was cooking dinner and looked in the dining room and this was going on. I guess he found it necessary to climb onto the table to ensure his coloring was perfect!

Moms night away!

I dropped these little dumplings off at school on Friday and headed to Columbus for the night!

We celebrated my friend Erin's friend Josette's birthday! I'm so happy I got to tag along and get to know my besties friends better.

After our night out we woke up and headed to breakfast and Target. We don't have a Target in our town and I MISS IT SO MUCH!

I ate all the food in the word. It was so fun to let loose and not count calories!

I also drank several adult beverages! This was a Girl Scout cookie. Mmmmm! It was so tasty.

I'm thankful for a wonderful husband who took off work early to hang out with the kids! He travels so much and for me to travel was awesome for a change.

Who had cavities?

Today was dentist appointment day in our house!

Layla's teeth are great except she's due for an orthodontist appointment. She's at that age...we must start straightening out those chompers!

Hayden's got a mouthful of drama. He grinds his teeth, he has two chipped teeth and two cavities. Holy moly that boy. We need to brush brush brush!

He loved watching Layla get her teeth cleaned. He went first and then was very eager to watch Layla get her teeth cleaned second!

I love our friendly dental staff and it's a good thing since we'll be visiting the dentist office often!

100th day of school snacks

I volunteer at the kids school on Thursday afternoons and today was a fun treat! {Hayden being super silly and is making eyeballs with marshmallows and chocolate chips!}

Hayden's teacher had a fun snack idea for the kiddos after recess. They got to count out ten pieces of ten different snacks and eat them!

The choices were:

Cheerios
Popcorn
Pretzels
Chocolate chips
Raisins
Marshmallows
Chex cereal
Goldfish
Oyster crackers
Sunflower seeds

100 snacks for 100 days of school!

I'm thankful we got to 100 days of school. We've had do many snow days. I'm also thankful the kiddos got to play outside today at recess. 50 degrees felt amazing.

Happy 100 days!

donuts and chocolate and clean dogs!

Happy Valentine's Day!

The kids woke up to chocolate and donuts.
I attended their class parties at school and had lunch with my Valentine!

The puppies got much needed haircuts and baths.  They smell so good now!

We had friends over for crab legs and champagne for dinner.

It was a great day and I am thankful for a low key yet special Valentine's day!!

my [somewhat] normal day

today was the first day the kids have had a full day of school in what feels like f.o.r.e.v.e.r!

it was so sweet for this momma!

i know this picture is super ridiculous and you can't see the beauty i can, but....

i just love this stretch of road.
it takes me into town from our house.
the river is on the right and a beautiful hill covered in snow is on the left.

i gasped at its beauty today.

i wanted to slam on the brakes and use my big camera to take amazing shots.
but i went to work-out instead.  i can't get enough of Ohio's beauty.

working out is my therapy.  i have missed it something awful.
i do workout videos at home and lift my 10 lb barbells, but there is something about my workout class.  i just love it and have missed it so much since the weather has been so terrible.

after my workout i met my bestie for an amazing lunch.  Swiss onion soup and half a veggie wrap. it was a refreshing, yet warm lunch.

i ran a few errands and then the kids were home from school.

we did home work and ate granola and gummies.  then took baths and read books.

i skipped the gummies and had a cup of coffee while putting conversation hearts into baggies for Layla's class party on Friday.

i ended the night with leftovers and a glass of white wine with frozen grapes for dinner.

it was a great day and i think we all enjoyed a bit of normalcy with school being back in session full force.  the kids missed their school friends!

let's hope the weather allows our great schedule to continue!

it's a month long winter wonderland

We ventured out to go the grocery store yesterday and the roads were pretty terrible.

It started snowing in the morning and snowed for hours and hours.  It's been snowing so much this past month.  I have to admit it's so very pretty! My favorite description of it all is .... a snowglobe!

I'm sure all these inches will delay school for tomorrow.  This will make the children happy because Gary is off tomorrow and they can play with him all day long!  I'll be waiting by the phone to see if the robot call comes through declaring a two hour delay or a full day cancellation.

I am so thankful all this weather is happening this year and not last year.  Can you imagine how freaked out I'd be if this was my first winter in Ohio, coming from Texas?  I'd want to run back to Texas!!!  Mother nature broke me in easy last year!  I'm loving the change in climate here in Ohio!

chop chop, snip snip!

This little lady got a much needed haircut today.

It's been long overdue and she ended up getting 5 inches chopped off.
We have been fighting like cats and dogs for weeks over brushing her hair.  She finally decided to get a shorter style and I couldn't be happier.

I love the before and after shots.
She is beautiful either way, but her shorter hair definitely looks more fresh and flowy!

Yay for a fun bob!

can we go back to school? please?

The kids are home again today for another snow day.

I think they are super bored and I know I am ready for them to get back to learning!!

Today we did chores and homework and they really didn't complain too much.  The windows are clean and the leather couch got scrubbed really well.  Layla wrote her spelling words and Hayden wanted to write his numbers.  He wrote them all the way to 105.

I'm loving sitting beside them while we watch movies and they play Mindcraft.  I've been wearing out pinterest!  I've discovered many new recipes and crafting ideas.  I also pinned a workout or two and did them.  Having them home isn't so bad, but I just know they need to get their learn on.  School is cool!

Monday snowday!

I feel like I have posted so much about snow!!!  I have!!  It's been so fun.  I'm sure I'll get tired of it as the years go on, but in the here and now we are loving all the snow!

Look at Lily.  She's attacking Daisy and putting her best face forward.  heeehee!

If you look closely you can see the snowballs flying though the air!

Gary shook the tree in this picture and it 'snowed' all over again!

We live with these gigantic trees surrounding our house.
crazy huh?

Gary dug helped the kids make a tunnel of snow.  The slid down it and crawled inside time and time again.  It was the best day!
