1st basket ball practice

This morning was Hayden's first basket ball practice.

He has been talking about this day for months!

As he was putting on his baskeball shoes he told them he loved them.  It made me giggle!

He got his game jersey and couldn't wait to get home and try it on.  I'm sure he would wear it every single day if  we'd let him!

Let's Go #5!!!!

back to school

I have enjoyed having the kids home from school for the winter break.  We have been very busy playing with friends and playing with all the fun things they got for Christmas.

Monday was a teacher work day and Tuesday was a 'cold' day, so there wasn't school either day.

The kids are in their pj's this morning due to a 2 hour school delay.  They are headed back to school in a few hours and I think they are excited to see their buddies and get back into a routine.

I know I'm ready for routine.  Bring on 2014, I feel like it is just beginning!

freezing cold weather

We've had some seriously cold temperatures here in Ohio this week.

Of course I had to get fuel in my Jeep on the day the weather was the coldest.

See that?  It's zero degrees. It was even colder than that over night and that doesn't include the wind chill.  Brrrrrr!

There was ice floating on the river.  I've never been around a frozen river.  It was a pretty sight.  Pretty, but scary.  I wouldn't want to get too close to a frozen river that is flowing.

Stay warm!!!

Daisy Mae, snow princess!

Our tiny little dog thinks she's a princess.

Lily, our black lab mix, has rubbed off on her a bit and now she wrestles and gets frisky in the snow.

But usually she lays around with her paws crossed like a dainty little lady.  She is so sweet and like I've said before, "cat-like."  She spends her days watching us all doing our daily tasks.  I think she just watches us and judges us.  I wish I knew what she was thinking!

She was running through the snow this morning and snow was piled onto her lower fur on her face.  It was the cutest thing.  She was a soaking wet snowy mess when she came inside the house.  She's all warm and toasty now.  She's back in her spot on top of the couch.  The life of a princess is wonderful!

Christmas tree turned rocket ship!

I took down all our Christmas decorations right before the snow storm hit.  I drug that big ole tree outside all by myself with a little help from the kids while Gary was at work.  It was one of those day where I just wanted to clean the entire house.  I was tired of the needles covering the living room floor.  I didn't really think about were to put the tree, I just pushed it off the porch and left it, thinking Gary would dispose of it for me.

And then it snowed several inches.

And the kids devised a plan to use that tree.

And of course I took pictures!

Rocket ship blasting through the sky....

And Lily joins in on the rocket party!

They began to shove one another off the tree and into the mounds of snow.

The giggles made me smile.

Oh what fun!!

happy new year!

We had a great night ringing in the new year with friends and the kiddos.

It was the first year they both stayed awake until midnight!  They were so excited and it brought tears to my eyes to be able to be with them to ring in the new year!  I'm a cheesy mom, I know!

Happy 2014!
