a whole lotta jibber jabber

The end of summer is coming up fast.  I can't believe school will be starting in just a two weeks.  

I am ready for fall temperatures, but who knows if we will get fall here in Texas.  This is the time of year when I get so mad about the Texas heat because the grass in our yard is so dry and dead.  It makes me so sad.  We use our water sprinklers, but the grass is still khaki and dry.

I was working on entering a Thirty-One order on Saturday and Layla was very curious.  She got so excited to pick out her school bag for the year.  She decided on a purple bag and a pink lunch box.  She said, "Mom, it's so cool that I don't have to go out and buy a school bag.  You own tons of bags and I get to create my own!"  I feel that way too.  I seriously could have one of everything Thirty-One sells. I love what I do!

Gary and I drink coffee together in the mornings before work.  I love my morning coffee.  Sometimes when I am at the store I try to buy coffee that is cheaper, but seriously there is no comparison   Expensive coffee is better.  Life is too short for bad coffee.  If only I could lose my Splenda habit.  I'm trying to stop using artificial sweeteners, but it is hard.  Coffee just needs Splenda!

Gary was out of town all last week.  It was a hectic week for me.  I tried to keep the kids busy, but that just made me tired.  By the end of the week I was so ready for a break.  These children are so cute and sweet, but they never stop talking.  They must take after their father. heehee!

We watched the season finale of Dallas on Saturday night.  I'm so sad it ended.  I love that show!!  I'm so excited to see the new season and I hope it's as good as the first season.   I'm ready for my fall shows to come back on TV.  

Hayden and Layla fight over TV.  He usually just gives in and watches what she wants.  Poor little dude watches more Jessie and Austin & Ally than any other 4 year old.   My favorite show right now on Disney is Good Luck Charlie.  I think it is great.  I love when they play back to back non-stop episodes.

I have been lazy with my camera lately.  I am posting this entry with zero pics.  GASP!!  

I will get back into snapping shots.  The end of the summer brain fry is in effect.  I've been a tad bit grouchy.  Good thing for me the grouchies don't last too long.  

And now I'm off to have my morning coffee.

Hayden's best friend BearBear lost his body/blanket.  Layla and Hayden were tugging on him and he lost his head.  I came to the rescue and BearBear is all better now.  Poor Hayden, he cried his eyes out.  He thought BearBear was a goner.

We went on a walk and died of heat at 9 am.

I cooked pinto beans in the slow cooker.  Mmmmm.  My favorite!

Layla had a sleepover with one of her besties.  They had a blast zipping around the backyard on Hayden's four wheeler.

The kids and I road tripped to my parents house for the night.  In the soaking rain.  

We love summer rain!!

We had lunch with my mom at a little hole in the wall Mexican food restaurant.  The kids were eating lemons.  Gotta love the sour face look!

The dogs had a fun time running around my parent backyard.  Daisy Mae always enjoys playing with my parents dogs.  My parents backyard is pretty awesome.

My mom is an aesthetician.  I really should abuse her services, but I don't.  I'm scared of pain.  Not that facials and eyebrow waxes are painful.  But anyway....

She gave me my first chemical peel.  I'm excited to see the results.  Oh and it wasn't too terribly painful.  At first it burned a little, but I didn't cry too loud.  

Layla was climbing the walls.  literally. 

This dress was my mothers when she was a little girl.  She asked Layla to put it on.  Layla did.  Then she started dancing around like a crazy person.  She's a hoot.  I thought it was cute that she wore a dress that old.  Ahem, not that my mom is old. 

We met our friends at the pool for some splashing in the water.  It was only 106 degrees.  Ugh!

My munchkins took over my bed.  All three of them decided to wake me up bright and early.  I didn't mind.  They are so sweet first thing in the morning.  It's later in the day they turn grouchy and start fighting with one another.  They have fought so much this week.  Sibling love....fun stuff right?!

Monster Jam weekend Getaway

We had an awesome weekend getaway with friends this past weekend.

Hayden really wanted to go see a Monster Jam show for his birthday.  There wasn't one close to us here in D/FW, so we hit the road to Cedar Park.

Road-trips are the BEST!

Monster Jam was one of the coolest things ever.  There were several different events during the show.  Each truck raced over a pile of old cars battling for who is best.  After that there was a donut contest and finally a freestyle contest.   Hayden had a permanent grin on his face the whole day!

I took this picture before the show started.  We were headed in to find our seats.  The national anthem was being played, so the kids had their hands on their hearts.

Thank the Lord for these ear protectors.  The giant monster trucks were so loud.  It was the loudest thing I'd ever heard.  I wore earplugs and it was still a little loud.

There were times during the show when I was nervous about safety, but I knew we'd be ok.  The donuts they did as stunts were intense.  When the trucks jumped over the pile of cars it was so fun and scary all at the same time.  Hayden's happiness made it all worth while.  He had an awesome time!

After Monster Jam we checked into our hotel and went straight to swim and splash the hotel swimming pool.

We had a great time splashing in the water with the Wachendorf family.  We loved hanging out with them all weekend.  We laughed so hard my abs were sore!

We used the timer on the camera to take a quick group picture before dinner.

Can you say sassy?  Oh my goodness these girls are so cute and giggly!

The kids had a fun time at Texas Roadhouse shelling and eating peanuts.  They were throwing peanuts into each others mouths.  The wait for our table was so long, but be made the best of it!

We had a late dinner, and it was such a fun night.

My sweet munchkins fell fast asleep after dinner.  They were so exhausted after a long day!

We ended the trip with a swim in the hotel pool before road tripping back to Fort Worth.

  I'm thankful for fun friends and a safe trip!
