homework homework and more homework

this is what most afternoons look like when the kids get home from school

we pop popcorn and eat snacks and DO HOMEWORK

Daisy waits for the popcorn to fall onto the floor

it is homework for me as much as it is for them

i keep my laptop handy so i can google stuff

i really have to google stuff

homework is hard for me and for them

we are into fractions and inertia in fourth grade

we are working on math facts and nouns, verbs and adjectives in first grade

thankfully we have come up with a great routine

we found a way to stay organized and that makes a big difference while settling in to do homework after school

not having a pencil or paper or the weekly classroom newsletter makes for a chaotic homework event

no one has time for cranky unorganized homework time

the kids are already tired after a long day at school so being organized pays off for our family

I am thankful I get to be home with the kids while they do homework

it isn't always fun, but we make the best of it!

weekly review in pictures

Monday

I love driving around town this time of year.  It's beautiful.

I am looking for a bench for our entryway in our house.  I decided to go to all the thrift stores and antique malls to see if I can find a cute older one I can redesign.  I didn't have any luck, but I sure had fun shopping.

Tuesday

I was busy Tuesday catching up on house cleaning and laundry.  While browsing Pinterest I saw this.  Don't we all browse n clean?  But WOW to this quote.  It's powerful to me.

Wednesday

Wednesday night I hosted "girls night in ~in our pj's."  We had fun playing games and eating homemade ranch dressing with anything we could dip in it.  I made brownies too.  They will be the death of me.  I love brownies.

Thursday

Thursday was a rainy day.  It rained all day long and into the evening so soccer practice was cancelled.  Hayden was happy because he wanted to stay home and color.  I have no idea what has come over him, but Layla loves his recent love for coloring.  She loves to color and always has!  So they colored right up until bed time.

Friday

Lily got bored and decided to eat the rug in our entryway.  I need a bench and a rug now.  I did a little searching for a rug, but I'm not really exactly sure what I want.  I'll keep looking.

Since I mentioned Lily...she is in the picture above.  She is mad at the squirrels who taunt her daily.  They know she won't run after them so they look her in the eyes and eat their walnuts all rude like.  Anyway, look at the yellow tree.  It's so pretty.

Ok, that sums up our week.  Our weekend will be filled with soccer both on Saturday and Sunday.

Our week in Instagram pics

Monday while the kids were at school I drove all around town looking for houses.  I stopped and got this snack.  The SlimJim was yucky, but the Snapple was yummy!

Tuesday Hayden washed his golf clubs.

Wednesday we found a cute little farm house surrounded by lots of green grass and trees.  It is on a huge lot and we are in love with it!  We have 3 houses now....this new house, a rent house here in the same city and our house in Texas.  Our lease is expiring on our rent house and hopefully we will sell our house in Texas soon.  It will be so nice to have to keep up with only one house like most families.  Having multiple homes is for the birds!  I'm ready to start summertime stress free!

Thursday was our 'busy evening' day.

Hayden had soccer practice.

Layla had dance practice.  She is really loving it!  I'm so proud of her.

Friday was "Funday Friday."  I had lunch with a fun group of ladies!  We sat out by the river on a patio while the sun was blaring on us.  It was greatness!

Today I am making a simple syrup for the Mint Juleps we are drinking tonight at the Kentucky Derby/Cinco De Mayo party we are attending.

That is our very busy week in a simple little nutshell.
