soaking the itchies away

Hayden is enjoying a Sunday evening soak.  He's soaking away the rough patches of dry, red and flaky skin that makes him itchy every single day.

I think he may be my hero right now.  Every single day for the past year he has struggled with allergies.  Allergies for him don't cause him the sniffles or coughing.  His allergies come out through his skin.  It's a daily battle and Gary and I feel like someday all he will remember is us staying, "Stop scratching, put on some lotion."  He is amazing.  He takes it all in stride.  He knows his triggers, grass, trees and dust.  He asks to stay in a recess if the school lawn guys are mowing.  He's just such a good boy and not only do we pray for him every day, he prays for himself.  He is a prayer and he knows this is a season.  Eczema isn't forever.  It is a chapter in his life and he will outgrow it some day and until then we will fight and stay away from his triggers.

And baths are the plus!  After much fear, I talked him into a bath and he enjoys soothing in the water.  Finally!

my first break as a working mom

We have a week long break from school for Thanksgiving!

I'm so excited to do nothing.

One of my coworkers asked me what I was going to do and I said, "I'm doing nothing!"

I'll be hanging with the pups and kids.  I'll be watching football.  I'll be baking pies.  I'm planning to make a cute veggie turkey to take to my hometown on Thursday.  I'm shopping for black flat shoes and work pants. I'm returning a few things to a few stores. I'm reading books and drinking quiet cups of coffee. I'm going to spend my time catching up and relaxing. I'm going to do a few things that I just haven't had time to do.  I'll be a great week.

I'm excited to be with my people and pets and enjoy every single second!

I am blessed!

downtown on Sunday

We decided to head downtown this morning for the River Roar.  We were sad that the boat races were cancelled due to high winds.  I just know the kids would have loved it.

The kiddos were pretty concerned with this fire down the river.  It smelt awful and pieces of ash were flying all around.  The announcer of the races said it was a recycling plant down the river.  It's so sad.  I hope everyone was ok.

There was also a car show on Front Street.  We loved looking at some of the old cars.  Our family favorite was the 1972 model suburban.

When we got home the bottom fell out and it poured rain.  Thankfully our covered patio lets us enjoy the rain while grilling and relaxing.

The ferns got water and we sampled the beef jerky Gary made.  It was his first time and it turned out amazing.  He grilled us chicken and sausage with veggies too.

Lily Jack enjoyed laying on her bed on the porch.  She was nice and peaceful until Daisy jumped on her head and woke her up.  Those two pups fight and wrestle as much as the kiddos do!

It was a fun Sunday for us, even if the boat races were cancelled.

little baby pine cone

I have a short walk to school with the kids every morning.  We are lucky to live very close to the school.  Every morning on the walk back home I take in the every single bit of the scenery.

Mornings are crazy in our house. Kids are getting ready, eating, brushing teeth, scrambling for book bags and putting on our winter gear.  Putting on the gear adds five extra minutes to the morning routine.  Heck, sometimes ten extra minutes.

Sooooo when I walk home kid free I enjoy the quiet walk home before I beging my day of chores.

Today I saw this cute little baby pine cone.  I can't wait to watch it grow every few weeks.  I feel like we are so busy and sometimes I don't stop to enjoy the little things.  I have a goal to be more present in the weeks to come, even with the chaos that the holidays bring.

This little pine cone is going to keep me grounded.  Every day I see it will be my reminder!

Whew!

Holy Cow...today was a crazy day. I had the day all planned in my head. Wake up, coffee, breakfast, clothes on me and kids, get in car, play at park all morning with fun friends, come home, have lunch, and take naps. I would blog and catch up on a load or two of laundry while kids were napping and eat some candy corns...gosh I gotta stop that!

Needless to say the day was much different than I had planned in my head.

So if my grammar is jacked up...who cares I am half crazy right now!

We woke up to rain, which is nice, but not when you want to tire out the kids at the park. Minor set back. Play date cancelled by me because I don't want a million kids running around in my house all cooped up. I have noses of my own kids to wipe, and don't want to be closed up in a house (mine or anyone elses) with more that two boogery kids...I know I know, I am rude!!

But can you say FLU? I'm paranoid.

The kids (my two) start playing in the living room and things get crazy, and before noon Hayden and Layla both have battle scars. Layla pulled a blanket out from under Hayden while he was standing on it and I though he had been shot! He shrieked louder than a girl. Layla was standing on something and fell and it hurt a mysterious rash on her arm. Her words? She had a rash I didn't know about, and he hit it with something while she was falling. Probably the drum stick that he was hitting Callaway with.

Poor pup.

Hayden woke up from his nap and we had lunch. Lunch gave him the energy to tear my house apart. Arghhhh. I save receipts, and he tore them out of the box and had them spread all over the house. I moved him out of the office and shut the door. WRONG...he was not happy about that, so he threw himself backwards and flung his body onto the tile floor. I have seen some temper fits, but WOW...none like that! I was so worried about him for an hour or so. BUT he was just fine. He found the toilet paper and made another mess.

I'm a professional cleaner-uper!

I'm tired just thinking about all that happened in this house today.

I am off to watch Grey's and Private Practice! I can't wait to kick back and relax. But first I must share one last thing. Right before bed Hayden caught a fly and ate it. I had to stick my finger into his mouth and pull it out. That is NASTY!!! I can't believe he caught a fly, and then tried to EAT it. Arghhhh! I think I may have hurt him; I was brushing his teeth so hard.

I think that takes the cake on crazy random things that can happen in a day. Gosh, I didn't even post about ALL the craziness...heehee! You just can't make this stuff up!
