Go Panthers!!

It was cold and misting, but we had fun anyway!  We love our Panthers and high school football.

We lost the game sadly, but we had the best time cheering on our team.

Go Panthers!

We supported our Midway Panthers and went to the State football game in Arlington.

15-0!!!  What a wonderful year of football it has been!

We knew the kids would have a fun time and so did we.  I just love staring at that huge TV!

We didn't win the game, but it was a wonderful season and I'm so thankful to be a part of a great school district.  We love our schools!

Fall feels good!

We have all settled into a nice routine for fall.
The weather here in October has been amazing!

On Mondays we load up in the evenings and do baseball.
Layla is loving the top off the Jeep just as much as the rest of us!

We're loving watching this guy hit the ball!

On Tuesdays we taco or tostada!   You know, Taco Tuesday is the best!

Wednesdays are for ring pops watching HC play more ball!

Thursdays are low key.
We try to cook something fun and watch Grey's and football.
I like to throw in a load or two of laundry to keep up with it all.

Lily and dad are having a serious conversation and of course
Daisy is very jealous.
Goodness these dogs are sweeties!

Aaaand we burn the fall candles and diffuse ALL the fall oils.

On Fridays we football!

On Saturdays we eat a fun breakfast and we dream of where our future house will be.  We can't wait to buy a home, but we are using this time to explore and plan for all the things we want.  It's fun!  We all load up with the Jeep top off and we explore our area.  Sometimes we want to buy a lot and build a house and other times we want to buy a house already built.  I'm not loving our rental house right now, but I am enjoying every moment.  I'm helping the kids to make memories that will last a lifetime.  Someday we will drive past our current home and remember all the fun things we did here!

After we finish exploring Gary smokes meat and we watch football outside in the backyard.  He missed out on so many Saturday's with the family and now we don't take them for granted!

One week he smoked a brisket and the another he did pork.  He's in his element and he loves it.  He's been cooking more for us every single night since I started working. I love being in the kitchen with him.  We sorta fell back into our dinner routine of him doing the meat and I do the sides.

I enjoy coffee on the porch in the morning.  I love watching the doggies get frisky in the fall air.  I'd rather watch them than browse Facebook right now.  Ugh.  Can the election be over yet?  Sometimes I wonder if some of my friends on FB live in a bubble.  Goodness, the nonsense going on on social media right now has me irritated.  That's why I love Instagram.  It's my happy, peaceful and no drama space!

I was so nervous, but excited to start my new job.  After 11 years as a stay at home mom I was worried about messing up our family dynamic.  We all have good communication.  We're all happy most of the time.  I didn't want my schedule change to effect us all negatively, but it has been wonderful.  I couldn't be happier with my choice to become a working mom.  It's working out great for everyone in our little family.  So far we are thriving in our new normal!

Football time in Texas

We finally made it to a Midway home football game!

The first Midway game of the season it rained and the second game Hayden was feeling awful, so we finally went to a home game last night. As a member of the Panther Pack, Hayden got to run onto the field before the football players run out.  He was feeling shy about it, but he did great!

Layla participated in a Goal Tenders dance clinic a few weekends ago and she got to perform with them before the game.  It was a fun and busy night with kid activities.  I loved being at the game because I just love Friday night football.  As a little kid before I was a cheerleader or in the band I attended football games.  Layla had fun last night just as I did when I as a little girl because she got to hang out with her buddies.

I'm thrilled to work for and send my kiddos to such a great school district.  I'm looking forward to many more fun Friday evenings under the bright Friday night lights.  I hope to head to my high school too for a game or two!  #Cubforlife

Friday Night Lights!

Last night we took the kids to their first Baylor football game!  McLane stadium was so awesome!  We all had a wonderful time even though we were tired from a week of school activities.

The band was fun to watch before the game started.

We loved watching the Baylor Line run in too!

Baylor won and we all had a blast!  Sic'em Bears!!

Go bears!

We love Saturday's because of college football!  We always try to think of fun football foods and snacks.

Go Baylor!

We love our silly selfie stick.  The kids get all irritated with me begging them to get ready for a photo.  Times have changed though, from the days of setting up my Canon camera timer.  Now we have the selfie stick.  What will be the next fun way to snag family photos?

I just love these girls!

These two kiddos have so much fun together, but then they fight together.  Fall break is over on Monday and back to school they go!  Golly gee, the break went fast.

I'm ready to get back into the school routine!  Fall is upon us and it's a wonderful time of the year!

a few football appetizers

Look how easy this is:

Go buy your favorite sausage and slice it up.
Open a can of pineapple chunks and reserve the juice because someone will drink it.  Layla loved it!  Anyway, top the slices with a pineapple chunk and a toothpick and put on a cookie sheet.  This is a great way for kids to help cook; it's an easy job and fun too.
[I lined the pan with parchment paper for easy clean up.]
Bake in the oven at 375 until the edges of the sausage are slightly browned.
Ahhhhh!  It's that easy and the flavor is so yummy.  I think it's a perfect football appetizer!

Next up, is a chicken tamale casserole I mixed up and instead of putting in in a casserole dish I scooped the mix into muffin tins.  This is a tasty appetizer to grab and go!

This picture is awful, but you get the idea.

1 box of Jiffy cornbread mix
1 can of cream style corn
2 eggs
1/3 cup of milk
1 can of enchilada sauce, I used red
2 1/2 cups of shredded chicken
2 cups of shredded cheese, your choice, I used taco blend
a couple sprinkles of cumin

Mix it all together, pour into muffin tins and bake on 375 for 45 minutes.

I just say watch them.  Ovens vary and I had to bake these little babies longer.  Start with 30 minutes and see how they look.  Stick a toothpick in them because I took mine out of the oven and had to put them back in.  You want the final product to be a little soft, but the outside can have a tad bit of crunch.  Top them with cheese and bake 'til cheese melts.  So yummy!

I've posted this chicken dip before, back in 2011! It seems crazy I've been making this that long.
It's pretty easy too 'cause I'm all about easy.

8 ounces cream cheese softened
1/4 cup ranch dressing
1/4 cup blue cheese
1/2 cup wing sauce
1 cup shredded cheese
3 cups shredded chicken

Mix it up and bake at 350 for 25 minutes.

I almost always substitute ranch for the blue cheese dressing.  I always have all the stuff in the pantry for homemade ranch, but don't usually keep blue cheese in the fridge.

Happy eating friends!

navy blue star selfies

The Dallas Cowboys season opener last night was a nail biter.

We're Texas folks and will always love our Dallas Cowboys.  Layla and Hayden were awake for kick off and then had to hit the hay for school this morning.

Anyone else watch the last of the game with toothpicks holding their eyes open?  I was so sleepy, but I couldn't look away.  I have some friends who are New York Giants fans (what in the world are they thinking?) and I just couldn't sleep not knowing the outcome of the game!

We kicked some booty THANK GOODNESS!

Go Bears!

Tonight was the first Baylor football game!

Hayden was focused on the big game!

We had a fun night snacking and staying up past our bedtimes to watch the season opener!

We served all the gold and green food we would find as we watched the Bears win!

Sic'em!!

she's as tall as Layla

Gary and I were trying to watch football, but these two girls decided to block our view.  Lily is so big!  I can't get over how big she is.  She's the sweetest puppy ever and sincerely loved by our whole family!
