a fun dinner & a house warming gift idea

Friday night we went to Ashley, Aaron and Ava's house for dinner.  I just love this picture I took while I was sitting on the patio.  The sunset from their backyard is gorgeous!  The weather was amazing and the food and company was fabulous too.  Good friends make life grand!  Oh and let me just tell you how good a friend Ashley is....she bought guacamole from HEB for me.  It is my favorite thing in the whole wide world.  She loves me :)

Ashley and Aaron just moved into a beautiful new home a few weeks ago.  I think they unpacked and decorated in a week....they are fast!  The house is so pretty and it fits their family just perfectly!  We felt honored to be their first dinner guests.  We enjoyed a wonderful steak dinner and strawberry shortcake for dessert.

Look at Ava's beautiful face.  Isn't she just gorgeous?!?  I caught her eating a chip, but look at those eyes!!

Layla and Hayden love playing with Miss Ava.  Their new backyard was a huge hit with the kids.  They ran and ran and ran.  It was so fun to see them having so much fun.  Hayden was chasing their new dog.  This little mutt just showed up on their back door step.  He climbs through the wrought iron fence and comes and goes as he pleases.  He is a great little buddy for their older dog Lucy.  Bless his heart though...my kids picked him up like a baby doll.  He probably slept good after we left.

I thought I'd share the housewarming gift our family gave them.  I feel as if it is one of my best kept secrets.  I can't believe I haven't posted it before.  If you know someone that just moved into a new home, throw all this together for them.  It is a very practical gift.

"Happiness is the home that shelter's a friend."

Bread so you'll never know hunger.

Wine so you'll never know thirst.

Salt to remember life's flavor, and

Light to brighten your hearth.

I received this once when we moved into our home and I just loved it to death!!

How cute and fun is that?  And there are so many different options on different salts, wines and bread.  And who doesn't love candles?

I just had to post a picture of Hayden.
His little sad face...he got in trouble for chasing and trying to hit the dogs and people with this daisy. Ughhh!  He is all boy I tell ya!

Thanks for having us to dinner y'all...we had a super fun time as usual.  Which reminds me how blessed we are to have found such great friends.  And through twitter.  Yep, twitter is how we met.  But, I feel as though we have known Ashley and Aaron our whole lives.  Gary and Aaron act like old buddies, and Ashley is a wonderful friend to me.  God had a hand in us meeting!
Ok...I'll wrap it up now......lotta sap here, lotta sap!

Cute housewarming idea! That is from the book "The Keeping Quilt" by Patricia Polacco. I read that with my class every year. Never would have thought of making that into a gift! Love it!!

You are a doll and I consider you one of my bestest friends, and to think I've known you less than a year. It was meant to be;)
