the perfect 4th of July appetizer

This dip is a sure winner for the Fourth of July.

I have been making it for the past few years and everyone loves it!
I honestly haven't met a person that doesn't like it.  If so they aren't sayin'.

It has become a tradition in our Fourth of July celebration.

*Warning* Warning* Warning* Warning*Warning*

It is not low fat!  But heck...we all need to splurge on holidays...right?!
I do, I look for any reason to eat bad...teehee! But hey, beans have fiber,
and all that calcium in cheese.

Warm Mexican Dip aka Crack Dip

The things to put on your grocery list:

8oz cream cheese
8 oz sour cream
2 cans Frito's bean dip
4 oz chopped green chilies
10 dashes of Tabasco
1 packet of taco seasoning
1cup cheddar cheese
1cup Monterrey Jack cheese
pinch of salt

How to make the magic happen:

Mix all ingredients with half of the cheese in a 9x13 Pyrex.
[or get an oven safe disposable pan if you are taking it to a
picnic or neighborhood Barbecue.]
Sprinkle rest of cheese on top.
Bake @ 350 for 20 minutes.

Serve with chips, or wrapped in a tortilla, or with crackers,
or just grab the closest spoon and shovel into your mouth as
fast as possible so no one else gets any.
I wouldn't know about the last tip.

You did warn me....YUM!!!! Rondell would be the one to just take a spoon and eat it, but I'd use chips. I can see why people love it. You're such a good friend to share a yummy dish.

sounds like the grocery shopping is the hardest part of this recipe. I am putting a big ol' fat star next to this one because it looks too yummy and sinful to pass up.

Oh I'll definately be making this one for the 4th....looks so good, and thanks Laura for the Mexican dinner night idea-Lane's birthday is the 10th and I needed an idea. I may also make corn dip.-Mexicorn, mayo, sour cream, green onions, cheddar cheese....hmmm and something else I can't remember right now. It is super good on Fritos. Would pair good with your cracker dip.

That sounds so yummy! We love anything with lots of beans and cheese! And you could always do the no fat refried beans instead....that would make it a little bit healthier:)

This sounds like something we would make here in Wisconsin. I've never had a dip quite like this. I think I will have to make it this weekend.
