Got snow?

It started sleeting hard and loud around 3 am Monday night.  It was so loud on our bedroom window.  I couldn't believe it.  It thundered a few times sending 2 kids and 1 puppy into our bed.  Bogey got so freaked out at the 2nd really loud clap of thunder...he barked.  Then Harley barked.  It was all out chaos at 4 am.

After the sleet stuck nice and hard onto the ground we got snow.  We got about 4 inches.  The snow top layer allowed us to play and make snow angels.

The wind chill was -2 during the day.  The kids obviously didn't have school, so we thought we'd get the kids outside to burn some energy.  That lasted about 5 minutes.  It was sooooo cold.

And pretty to look at, but way to cold to be in. Around mid afternoon the snow melted a bit on the patio, but the ice didn't.  Gary and I laughed so hard at Bogey slipping and sliding on the icy patio.  Aren't we terrible to laugh at him?  He was so funny though, and he wouldn't stop running, so each time he'd slip and fall...bless his puppy dog heart.

Layla was not a happy camper when we told her she couldn't stay outside longer.  Mr. Weatherman backed us up though. On the 6 'o clock news he told the whole D/FW area how dangerous the cold temps were, and Layla heard every word.  I was thankful.

To make it all better we made snow cream.

Gary gathered a large bowl of snow and I measured

5 cups of snow
2 cups of milk
1 cup of sugar
&
1 TBS vanilla

I mixed it all up and served it for dessert after dinner.  It was a very fun treat.

We added sprinkles to the kids...they were thrilled.

Due to the terribly low temps and ice that didn't melt yesterday, school is out again today. Maybe, just maybe depending on the wind chill we can venture out and play!

Happy Snow/Ice Day!!

I've never heard of eating snow like that. I've lived in Wisconsin my whole life where we have tons and tons every year. Where did you ever get that recipe?

Snow ice cream sounds so fun and yummy! The snow does look really pretty but I don't think I would like those temps!

That is a ton of snow for you guys. Brrr...brrr. We had a nasty ice storm and now it's going to snow. I'm truly ready for Spring! I would have laughed at the puppy too :)

Hope y'all have had a nice snow day! It's cold and windy here so you can't go out, but no snow which makes it just miserable.

I've heard of the snow cream before but we've never had enough snow to ever make it before. Send some our way!!
