our week in pictures

The kiddos had a dentist appointment and

Hayden got to watch Layla get her teeth cleaned.  He thought is was the coolest thing ever.
He watch her go right after he had already gotten his cleaned.  It was fun for him to see what he just had done.

"Mommy, she is going to clean dem!"

Layla was so brave.  She looks nervous, but these kids have trips to the dentist dialed in.
We are happy to report, NO CAVITIES and two very cooperative kids.

Subway!

Mmmmm!  The kids ordered salami sandwiches.  I was shocked, but they ate every bite!

This is Gary's handwriting.  Yes, meal planning has rubbed off on him.  I am so proud!

Some nights I actually set the table fun for us.  I'm cheesy, but Layla and I love dining fancy some nights!

I hadn't made chicken spaghetti in months.  You know why?  Because I could eat the whole pan.  Ahhhh.  I love it and it was such a delicious treat!

The kids are getting really good at Mario Cart.  I am really terrible at this game.  I try not to act disappointed.  Maybe one night I'll sneak in there and practice while every one is in bed.  I'm just so stinkin' competitive.  I don't wanna lose.

I took a picture of Mr. Yellow Grasshopper.  He was just hanging out outside the garage.

I was enjoying rest-time with the kids.  I'm laying on the Dora couch and my Twizzlers pillow.  Daisy decided to jump on me and then make herself at home all sprawled out on her back.  She is one spoiled rotten dog and I wouldn't have it any other way.

We got the best watermelon at Kroger.  Oh my it is so delicious.
Watermelon is one of my favorite parts of summer.

I have no words.  Hayden falls for her tricks every time.  They both made me laugh so hard.  They were trying to walk on the tile floor.  They were clanking around and tripping.  Goodness gracious.  They think they are so funny!  I'm just thankful for no broken bones.

One of my favorite summer dinners.  Tostadas.  They are so easy and light after a hot summer day.
The ingredient for these pictured above:  tostada shells, pinto beans smushed into 're-fried' beans, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese and salsa and sour cream for dipping.  This meal would have been perfect with guacamole.

I saved the funniest picture for last.  Sweet Hayden has cleaned his plate all week long at dinner time.  I'm so proud because usually we beg him to eat a few bites.  But after dinner on this particular night he said he felt like he was growing and we needed to measure him!

That is our week in pictures ... I hope you have a happy Friday and a wonderful weekend!

thursday thoughts

This week has been lower key for us.  Thankfully!

Tonight I am just full of randomness.  Gary is watching golf and I am thinking about starting a new book.  I am really trying to read more.  I have a huge list of books in the notes section of my phone.  That list is getting longer, so I need to get to reading.

I scratched Hayden's back tonight before bed for about 10 minutes or so.  My arm went numb, but I really wanted him to relax.  He loves to have his back scratched.  I wish I could have someone scratch my back every night before bed.

I cleaned the house this morning and it was a hot task.  Let me just say ... I'm not going to post all summer long about how hot it is, because I have seen about 4,569 post about the heat.  BUT dang it's hot.   I feel bad for Gary.  He has to mow the lawn.  I feel like I have it easy because I'd pass out if I were a landscaper.

I gave Daisy Mae a bath earlier.  She is a wild pup after a bath.  She was running and slamming into the furniture like a possessed heathen.  She runs from me when she sees her shampoo bottle.  She is terrified of her bath, but I think she feels great after she is wet and clean.  She would be so embarrassed if she new I posted this picture of her.  She looks so pathetic!

Layla developed some weird rash yesterday.  It bothered her more yesterday, than today.  She soaked in a nice long Epsom salt bath and I think that made her better.  We avoided hot sweaty activities today in hopes that it gets better.  I didn't want to take her to the pool if that is what caused the rash.  I also can't imagine putting sunscreen on an itchy rash.  Hopefully she will be all better tomorrow.

While Layla was soaking in the tub Hayden played trucks on my bed.  He was having the best time driving them off the 'cliff.'  He was laughing and jumping around and I was so worried he would fall off the bed.  I do love that he plays so well by himself.

That concludes the randomness I have for tonight!

Sleep well!

Our first trip to the pool

We finally took our first trip down the road to our community pool.

The kids did great!  Hayden wouldn't step foot into the deep end when we first showed up, but then he overcame his fear and jumped in.  [with his floatie on of course.]  Layla rocked the pool and she swam like a little fish!

The kids had a blast letting Gary throw them around.   I was shocked at how hot the water was.  It was not near as refreshing as the $25 blow up pool we splash around in in our own back yard.  I guess when it is 100 plus degrees there is no relief.  Hopefully we will stay cool this summer.  It's seems like it's gonna be a scorcher!

Whitney weekend

Gary and I look forward to our adult "Whitney" weekend every year.  It is always a good time with good friends on the lake.  We ride in the boat all day long.  We float in the water at the private dock.  We play silly games at night and just get away from the hustle and bustle of life.  We usually don't have good cell phone reception and that is a blessing.  I get to fully relax!  This year I even limited my camera time.  GASP!  It really was a good thing.  I needed to completely disconnect.

In the years past we drop our kids off at my parents house and head down to Lake Whitney on Friday afternoon.  This year two other couples took their kids to ride in the boat on Thursday so we thought Layla and Hayden would have fun hanging out with them.  We are glad we did.  We all had tons of fun as families and then the next day all the kids got dropped off at the grandparents houses.

Layla was super brave and jumped off a cliff right by the dock.
I was so nervous for her, but proud too!

Hayden likes splashing in the water, but he doesn't really like deep water.  We had to beg him to get into the water.  Finally he did, but he wasn't happy.

I love this picture of Layla and her daddy!

Layla loves tubing.  She was all smiles tubing with Mia, Macy and Lexi.  Oh how I love all these girls!

I had so much fun on Thursday taking tons of pictures of the kids.  I also went a little overboard snapping shots of the sun setting.  I just love that peaceful time of day.

Friday through Sunday I made myself put the camera away.  I did take a few pictures of the husbands doing the Sky-ski, but mostly I just had fun catching up with my friends.  We only see some of the couples once a year, so it is always a great reunion.

I am so thankful for my friends and thankful for the time we get to spend with them at the lake!

just a summer day

Today was a fun day of Yosicles, splashing in the backyard pool and silly hair-dos.

Layla giggled every single time she would fix her wet hair a different way.

We had a fun day in the backyard and now we are hot and tired. I'm thinking tonight will be a nice relaxing movie night!  I love the simple days of just playing and never leaving the house.

fun father's day festivities

We had a fun Father's Day weekend celebrating my favorite dads.

We had homemade ice-cream.  Mmmmm!  It was a wonderful treat!

LK stole my camera and took tons of pictures.

{I love my sweet little man}

Not to bad for an amateur...huh?!

I had fun with the camera too.  We took Daisy with us to play with my parents 3 dogs.
All the pets got along great!

It was a fun adventure and I think Daisy has napped since we got home earlier today.

The kids always have fun exploring in Netsie and DeDe's backyard.

This child kills me. Oh how I love her!

Gary got his Father's Day wish.  All he wanted to do was watch the US Open golf tournament on TV.  That is what we have been doing!

We had a fun weekend.  We are blessed!
